Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

Hello Poor Richard Saunders,

I have to wonder about case resolution numbers -

On April 11 we had 539,942 active cases.
On May 20, we have only 458,121 cases that have had outcomes.

Are people that get tested, stay home and get better on their own being counted in the outcomes? Nothing seems to suggest that people are sick for over a month. I can buy 2 week time frames from original positive test to being virus free. We may see an adjustment of the active cases at some point because of this.

Good question. I have often wondered the same thing. Are the screeners calling these people back to ask them if they recovered? Or would it require a second test (or several) which come up negative... I have not been able to find out.

Ultimately we will learn, if the Active Cases eventually goes to zero.

We've had a hint. There was a point where the number of Active Cases dropped for a few days. That shows that the figure should indicate a peak at some point.

All 50 states are in the process of slowly and carefully reopening....;)

There were/are a number of tests still out and it's hard to get an accurate assessment of totals.
That said, the GF said there are plenty of tests available at her hospital, and although there are positive cases, there are no "serious" cases there. They sent an 83 yr. old man home last week (and a 60's something woman) who was on a vent for 2 weeks, no other cases are on a vent there now.

I was wrong.

I performed a mathematical extrapolation of the curve on the graph of Total Deaths on May 1st which showed that if the number continued rising at the same rate, that we would reach 100,000 deaths by May 20th.

At the time of that extrapolation we had 65,753 deaths. People scoffed at the thought that we would reach 100,000 deaths, or that it would occur so soon.

I am glad I was wrong about that. That is an occasion where I would prefer to be wrong.

Sadly, though, I was not far from the mark. We have exceeded 94,000. There can be little doubt now that we will exceed 100,000 deaths and higher.

It should also be noted that there are most certainly deaths which are not being counted as COVID-19 deaths, so the true number is likely higher than the official one.

I just performed another extrapolation, using current data.

It reveals that we will reach the 100,000 mark by May 27th or 28th.

When the 'fake news' says we will be at 100,000 deaths by June 1st, they are actually a bit on the safe side.

It appears to me we will be working on our second 100,000 dead Americans by then.

Indeed.

Of course PoliTalker was cheering the economic loss to millions of Americans and their families caused by the virus from China.

The more Americans that die, the better, according to you. At least, all your posts mimic that.

It odes seem that way, doesn't it? He's not alone here in those sentiments....who celebrates death? Joyfully gives shoutouts for America to keep grieving?

I'm glad I was wrong about reaching 100,000 deaths by May 20th.

I just wish I had been MORE wrong. We got terribly close, and we'll be all the way there very soon.

And one of the scary numbers to watch is the Serious / Critical figure.

That keeps rising. almost 18,000 now.

We need that trend to be reversed before we'll be able to see a reduction of deaths.

Because we know that some of those 18,000 won't make it.

We have essentially reached the 100,000 deaths mark.

At this point there can be little hope that this is as high as it goes, especially with DT urging everybody to go out and spend money.

You would think he has enough, with his glass towers and all.

Very atrocious that he wants to risk a second wave, or just figures he will BS his way out of that just like everything else.

Because we know him well enough now to know that he doesn't care in the least about those people at risk.

That is meaningless to him.

He cares about himself, his ratings, his wealth and his power.

With a strong attention addiction.

Looks like today might be the day.

Memorial Day.

Today might be the day we reach 100,000 dead Americans from COVID-19.

Kind of ironic for it to happen on the day we remember our fallen war heroes.

We make a remembrance holiday, but death takes no holiday.

The deaths have actually slowed down, but still they come.

We are not outta the woods yet.

This is no time to drop our guard.

So I have no idea why we see so many unpatriotic people acting like it it's all over, not distancing, not wearing a mask in public.

What's wrong with them?

How selfish can they be?

Why would they listen to our terrible president or take their queues from him?

He sets a very bad example, out of his own selfishness.

He cheered when the stock market went down due to the virus from China that China failed to contain.
