Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

Hello moon,

Covid 19 has now killed more Americans than WW2.

Better recheck those numbers.

And the Civil War killed even more Americans than WWII.

But if we don't get some real leadership, I shudder to think of where we are headed.

Obviously ignoring this thing, denial, and trying to BS our way out of it is totally not working.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

A fair summation. It's also one example of why John Bolton's words are proved true: “The differences between this presidency and previous ones I had served were stunning,” writes Bolton, who worked for Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43. He discovered a President who thought foreign policy is like closing a real estate deal—about personal relationships, made-for-TV showmanship, and advancing his own interests.

TRAGIC!

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

You are right. They think it's an "old people's disease and they were going to die anyways pretty soon." "It's no worse than the flu." "It's hype."

Even if you manage to live the effects on the body are horrendous -- blood clots that cause permanent lung and other organ damage, loss of kidney function leading to dialysis, heart damage, brain damage, liver damage.

But yeah -- let's go to the bar! Let's get our nails done! Let's hang out at the beach! Let's go to a Trump rally!

It is apparent we have a lot of people in this country who simply do not have a positive outlook.

I lay the blame squarely on the president. One of the main jobs of president is to be our psychological leader.

FAIL!

Marianne Williamson would be FAR SUPERIOR right about now.

We sure as hell won't find leadership from anyone you support.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

There are good leaders on both sides, but neither party seems interested in nominating them to be President. Sad.

Actually, Joe Biden was tapped as a natural born leader in High School.

He was voted Class President in his junior and senior years.

He also decided very early in life that he was going to become a Senator at age 30, and then actually pulled it off!

And it was like a Cinderella story. He was virtually written off as a total long-shot. He ran as a Democrat in a heavily Republican favored state. His campaign was outspent by multiples. But his sincerity, youthful energy, and no nonsense platform struck the imagination of voters. On election day, he pulled off an upset.

Biden is also a non-drinker.

I'd be happy with Peter Pan or Worf the Klingon. #AnybodyButTrump

Hello Dutch Uncle,

Unfortunately true. A different way to spin it is "The US is rapidly advancing toward herd immunity!"

:rofl2:

Dream on. Not even close. That's the false line they might cling to. The reality is there is lots more damage to endure before that is achieved.

Thanks. Awesome but so what? I used to be a hotshot Marine Corps pilot, now I'm retired and building kayak trailers and cleaning out my hangar. Times change. Biden would make an excellent elder statesman, but he's too old to be President. Same for Trump, Bernie and Warren.

It's not false. We are moving toward herd immunity. The question is how many body bags do we have to bring to the celebration.

We'll see. There is still a lot unknown about this virus. They're not even sure how long, once you've recovered, you will continue to be immune.

True, but it appears that if a person survives it once, they can do so again. Meanwhile, is there any doubt that a vaccine or cure will be developed over the next year? It's mostly a matter of surviving until that time.
