Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

What is it gonna take for you deniers and "overblowners" to admit you were wrong?

Three thousand deaths per day?

Boom.

You got it.

Don't even try to say you are not convinced.

Lying to yourselves is bad enough.

Dat dog ain't gonna fly around here.

This is a terrible crisis. We had to react and take measures. Sorry if you didn't like it but we have to deal with reality.

You people made it worse.

You should be ashamed.

Many have died needlessly because of you.

And many more will die before this is all over.

I hope you can forgive yourselves.

I can do it, but as long as you don't it's going to be messing with your heads.

You need to fess up and make it right or you're going to go insane.

This cannot be swept under the rug.

Save yourselves.

We need you to help rebuild America.

You need to abandon madman Trump.

Regain your senses.

Find another way to tell us small government is optimal.

This ain't it.

We need a massive coordinated response.

Your foot-dragging and denial has made this a lot worse than it ever had to be.

Don't look now.

There is blood on your hands.

LOTS of it.

Those that use sex as insult are famously good at neither. You're a simple-minded potty-mouth.

You might be right. Time for you to put the bag over your head and declare me officially ignored. I've been naughty and deserve you ignoring me from now until the end of time.

"If we keep it under 100,000 deaths we will be doing good."

-The Lame Duck.

Total deaths are about to hit 300,000.

And bound to go far higher before the vaccines can take effect.

Nearly a quarter million new cases yesterday.

Another 3000 dead.

Obviously, we are beginning to see the results of people ignoring the guidelines at Thanksgiving.

'Oh, but I'm young (and/or) strong. This only affects the old and weak.'

Right.

It may not affect everyone but that doesn't mean young and strong people don't get it / have it and are simply asymptomatic and able to carry it to others who might get very sick and die.

Hospitals all over are reaching ICU capacity and are going to have to begin turning people away.

They are going to have to begin making choices of who gets care.

They will begin deciding that they can only help the ones who have the bet chance at recovering.

It didn't have to get this bad.

People need to believe the news and trust our institutions.

Don't listen to the lame duck president.

Lying about this is one of the major reasons he just got voted out.

27,000 people in serious or critical condition.

It's getting serious in the USA.

We are not doing very well.

People, we can and need to do better.

Nearly 6.5 million active cases.

Nowhere near herd immunity and the hospitals are nearly at capacity.

Please be very careful.

919 deaths out of every million Americans.

Closing in steadily on a thousand.

And that will be the day one in a thousand Americans has died from COVID-19.

And it won't stop there.

I don't know what our national capacity is for serious or critical cases but 27,523 people is a big number.

And it continues to grow.

There are over 106,000 people currently hospitalized.

Nurses can normally make a lot of money by being willing to travel and work in areas of need. When hospitals experience greater than normal demand, they hire nurses on contract. Thus, they are able to expand their capacity in regions when there is low demand in others.

The problem there is when the entire nation experiences demand there are no traveling nurses or other health care workers available to come and help expand capacity.

The limiting factor is not buildings beds and equipment.

It is the people to work it.

The USA has a finite number of respiratory therapists...

And that is not a field in which people can easily walk into without knowing what they are doing. Ordinary doctors and nurses do not know how to operate that equipment.
