I wouldn't be so sure about that.
Guns are a drug, and just like any drug, people get addicted to them.

And those who are addicted to guns see using those guns as compulsory and sole response to criminal behavior,
even if that criminal behavior is non-violent.
You have said yourself that you're willing to murder people over non-violent crimes, so there's a pretty strong connection between the feeling you get holding and/or firing a gun, and the motivation to fire it.
Since your brain is wired to release highly addictive dopamine when you fire that gun, the more you fire it, the more dopamine your brain releases.
So the gun very much causes you to fire it because the gun triggers the release of dopamine in your brain.
