LMAO... Then after he lost his presidential bid as and independent, he went back to being A DEMOCRAT where he remained a loyal member of the party until the day he died. Let's not leave out THE REST OF THE STORY there, bud!

He also changed his positions on seggregation and race relations when he returned to the Democratic party!
 
I actually knew Governor Wallace fairly well. I slept in the Governors mansion as an infant and visited often as a child. I also visited his home many times as an adult. He died four years after I graduated Auburn University. The last time I spoke with him was June of 1994 just after my graduation, he had my father and I over for dinner to express condolences on my grandfathers death and to congradulate me for Graduating.

Yes, you are correct... of course, segregation had been defeated and the CRA passed into law... but-- you are correct, the Democrats welcomed him back with open arms on nothing more than his word that he had changed. The same is true with Robert Byrd as well. I just wonder, if verbal affirmation worked for them, after supporting such deplorable racism and racist policy, why the hell doesn't it work for me, a poster who has never uttered a racist thought on here? Why doesn't it work for the millions of southerners who's ancestors fought and died in the War Between the States? Why is it, in THOSE examples, it doesn't matter what the person says, all that matters is who they are associated with from the past, by implication?

Of course, those are rhetorical questions, we know the answer. Because you are all a bunch of two-faced hypocrites.

I lived in a state where he was the pastor of a church, what do you think? Of course I heard him speak, I told you earlier, my mother marched with King after hearing him speak. Our family knew of Dr. King long before he became a national figure. And I assure you, he NEVER preached the hate and revile you articulate here on a regular basis, in fact, his message was a very contradiction to the hate-filled message you are spreading. I think, rather than be cocky and arrogant about your education, maybe you need to do some more studying on Dr. King and what he stood for.

Let me ask you something? Since when do we make determinations on people's character based on what other people's perceptions are?

I have no idea why people think I am a racist? Maybe it's the name? Maybe it's the flag? Maybe it's because I am from Alabama? Maybe it's because I am a Republican? Maybe it's because I don't subscribe to black liberation theology? I can't answer as to why bigots see me as something I'm not, any more than you can answer for why a bigot would see you as something you're not. I just know that I am not, nor have I ever been, a racist. You can't provide any evidence from anything I have posted here, to show that I am a racist. In fact, most everything I post concerning race is neutral and in accordance with what Dr. King advocated. I believe strongly in his message of a dream, but I also realize it is impossible to ever achieve his dream with people like you in the world, because you are hell-bent to see that doesn't ever happen. As I said, put a sheet over your head and you won't be able to tell the difference, you'd fit right in!
