White Women’s Rage: 5 Thoughts on Why Jan Brewer Should Keep Her Fingers to Herself

I clarified...I'm not going to rehash and rehash. Get you some business.

Translation:
Poet wrote=I've discovered that I really don't like the taste of my shoe, so therefore I'm hoping that everyone will forget that I said that I would SLAP a women who shaked her finger in my face.

Whatever. In my opinion, my opinion is not only more valid than yours....it's the only one that merits consideration. Sue me. I basically said the same thing, and it's not worth suing over.I understood where Charlize was coming from, but similarly, she has to take responsibility for her "poor choice of words", given the subject matter, and who she was referring to. Again, hyper-sensitivity because you didn't like the fact that Theron didn't back up Davis' complaint about the bankability of black actors in Hollywood. The key scene in the movie was "Minnie" serving up her sweet potato pie, resplendent with her own feces baked in the dessert. Not only did I "whoop"...Sissy Spacek's character, the victim's own mother "whooped". Didn't see the movie and don't intend to....at my age, I've seen enough movies in this vein, and have plenty of stories from my North Carolinian grandparent's and relatives on this subject. So..."hot shit or "hot as shit" is problematic. You can't tell me what to be hyper-sensitive about. Yeah, I can...because THAT is one fantastic stretch to find an insult. Like I said, one can criticize Theron for NOT getting the point of Davis' complaint (and I would love to see Theron deal with that in a Q&A), but to push it to a subliminal insult that you describe/allude to speaks more of YOUR mindset. Lincoln, unfortunately for you, freed the slaves.

Unfortunately for me? Do you know how absurd your last sentence was? Essentially, you're doing EXACTLY what I asserted before, taking an attitude that if ANYONE disagrees with you, then they're somehow not "black enough". Give a fucking break, will ya please?

Unless I am missing something here why would taichiliberal be upset that Lincoln freed the slaves?

Congratulations Poet.
In one day and in one thread (this one) you not only managed to get your own supporters to call you out on a commnet; but you were able to make yourself look like a fool, faster then any other poster.

Plus you showed to everyone that you would emotionally react to a women shaking her finger in your face, by slapping her.
I feel sorry for your mother; because she's probably afraid to chastize you, after being slapped for doing so, seeing as how mothers tend to shake their fingers in the faces of their children.

Oh come on, they castigated him for his comments. Kudos to both of them.

You appear to be reading something in this, that wasn't intended.
I agree that they were correct in chastizing him.
My comment to you was about my belief that if it had been someone that they label as having an (R) after them, would have recieved much more of a chastizement.

You may be right but that's surmising on your part.

They could have just ignored what he said and gave him a pass, but they didn't.

While we've had many people shoot themselves in the foot, with their commnets, on these forums; I've never seen anyone pull the pin on a grenade and then sit on it, like Poet did. :)

Okay, having read the article I can understand what all the flack is about. Theron's statement was simply missing the point. No matter how "hot" she may think Davis is (and let's face it, that was a BS compliment from Theron, who would NEVER equate Davis with her personal "hotness"), Davis is pointing to the STILL sterio-typing that goes on in Hollywood with regard to black folk. It would be interesting to get Theron's response to EXACTLY what Davis was pointing out in a Q&A.

I was really taken back when I read the women commenting on the original linked article here. They seemed to agree with what you say. I think Davis is a beautiful woman, a conventionally beautiful woman and this did not even occur to me. When I read them they seemed to think it was condescending and that white women often condescend to black women in this manner. Maybe it is because I live in NY where interracial relationships are very common, but I have black friends who are knock out and I never thought anything like this. Men of all kinds hit on them all of the time. But just because I don't think that, doesn't mean that a lot of other white women don't. THat's what I meant when I said earlier in the thread, you know, keep an open mind, go read what others who are walking in shoes you'll never walk in have to say.

And even if everyone were to agree that Davis is conventionally beautiful, that would not change how Hollywood portrays black women. Hollywood sucks in many ways. I hate when they pat themselves on the back for being so liberal when they are often the biggest purveyors of sexist and racist tropes.

It's difficult for me to take a gay black man to task. As I said earlier i have let other things he has said go, that let's face it if SF (let's use SF as an example since everyone knows I have no personal animosity towards him and would not give him crap just because he is an R) said it I would have called him on it. He is older and I have no doubt he has suffered great bigotry and even abuse over who he is. It pains me to confront anyone like that.

Also I don't like to go around confronting every bit of sexism I see on here. You know I would never have time to do anything else, now would I? I don't care for some of the things you've said and today was the first I ever mentioned it.

If I were to make a list of the men on here I consider to be the most sexist and those I consider to be the least sexist, I think you'd be very surprised at who ended up where. But I don't feel like taking that kind of crap, LOL. So no list!

There is the occasional locker room humour between us chaps but there is merit in what you say. Maybe we should have our own Boy's Corner as well as a Girl's Corner of course? I've defended on many occasions but he just goes too far at times.

My upbringing was hardly palatial, I spent the first six years of my life in slum tenements in East London, this was a time when there were many bombsites from WW2 which had not been cleared away. How we never ended up killing ourselves playing amongst the ruins and unexploded bombs is a mystery to this day. I was also subjected to many Irish jokes about thick Micks and Paddies until it became unfashionable.

I wanted to slap the bitch, too when I saw her wagging her finger in his face like he was her "boy"

Would I slap Jan Brewer or anyone for that matter, NO.

Commenting that you want to slap a woman and slapping the woman are two different things.

Poet's comments were once again taken to the extreme by others.

How many times have you ever stated, " I just wanted to kill him/her/it."

We all make statements we don't really mean, and truly never mean to carry out.

This is a thread where you could all pile on Poet.

Nice job...

Is it all because you are latent homosexuals and he brings that little part of you "out" that you would rather keep hidden?

Now I really feel like slapping some bitches! Line up...

Well, thank you for hearing me. I am not a prude by any means, you were right about that. But some of the stuff is just so objectifying. I remember a long time ago, Cawacko and another male conservative made a really gross sexist statement about Condi Rice, and I ripped them. The one con of course told me to get f'd, but Cawacko said, you know something Angl? You're right. That's when I knew Cawacko was cool, and he is.
