Watching white MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell chastising black presidential candidate Herman Cain for not participating in the 1960s civil rights movement infuriated me. O'Donnell accused Cain of sitting on the sidelines like a coward while blacks and whites marched and protested for black civil rights. How dare this white guy who does not have a clue what it was like to be black in America in the 1960s attack a black person for not responding to racism the way he thinks he should have responded?

That's not what I said. Cain is being posited as a candidate who is very clever and successful in business, which is undeniable, in the same way as Perot was presented to voters. His ethnicity is being used as a positive to hide his failings as a politician, he is admirable in many ways, but entrepreneurs tend to be dictators which is not a good trait on Capitol Hill.

Really...funny though how the constant "democrat" in lieu of the correct "democratic" doesn't grate on you this way.

I just love jazz pioneers such as Thelonious Monk, Artie Shaw, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Art Tatum, Billy Holiday and George Shearing. There are many others but they are just a few off the top of my head.

I think that he was just saying that he didn't like Jazz, it's not everybody's cup of tea. Not a problem, it's an esoteric kind of music, I don't have much time for trad jazz except from an historical perspective.

I think Jazz is more universal than say, country music, which isn't everybody's "cup of tea". I dunno. I just don't understand that. I love most music, regardless.

There are a few black country artists, Charlie Pride, Stoney Edwards, Frankie Staton, Darius Rucke, Carl Ray Cleve Francis and Rissi Palmer to name a few. Whether C&W is more popular than Jazz is debatable.

As I said before....I like most music, including some C & W. Jazz is certainly popular "world-wide", especially in Europe, than say, C&W, which is largely "regional".

How many C&W bars do you find in Scottland, Switzerland, etc.?

I like C&W music, but I recognize that Jazz is more global than C&W. C&W is more popular in the US though, contrary to popular belief.
