Well we got this week’s school shooting in the books early

you get two choices with this, barring your hyperbolic bullshit about what you want to define 'absolute' as.......

1. The 2nd Amendment protects the right of the people to own any weapon that the government would use against the people. Therefore, if you believe that the US Government would use nukes on us, then we have the right to own nukes and the government is violating the constitution

2. The 2nd Amendment protects the right of the people to own any weapon necessary to ensure that the federal government doesn't become tyrannical, which would exclude weapons of mass destruction because we the people would not want to destroy the nation, just restore the government.

take your pick and avoid the idiot hyperbole

The 2nd amendment has no exclusions.

Most of the founders were very practical people who believed in checks and balances and could never imagine how we live today.

The 2nd amendment is the ultimate check and balance. It is unconstitutional to ban or limit any weapon, including any gun.

This is EXACTLY the mentality that will ultimately cost sportsmen their right to bear arms--
the idiotic belief that people in a nation with free elections are allowed to take up arms against a freely elected government.

This should also be a lesson to all who believe that our constitution was well written.
As a legal document, our constitution was written by semi-literate halfwits who may or may not have had good intentions.

They want to guarantee our right to bear arms,
but instead,
they tell us it's OK to form private militias that can rise up against a government when they don't like how a free election went.

If you think this is good writing and good logic,
then you received a very inadequate education.

I

Discard of the Constitution of the United States.
Gaslighting.
There was no election in 2020.

You are not capable of identifying a great mind with your obviously inadequate one.
It's not your fault.
Your parents weren't breeding material.
You are merely the result of sex that should have been only recreational and not reproductive.
Your kind seems to be all over this forum, unfortunately.

....annnnnd the insults. Not even original. *yawn*

Most of the founders were very practical people who believed in checks and balances and could never imagine how we live today.

The founders had all just won a war against the most powerful nation in the world who, in part, tried to disarm the people, force their way into folks' homes, steal from them, etc. The 2nd Amendment was to ensure that the government would not have the power to disarm the People. Hence the right of THE PEOPLE is how it was written. In order to assume that it wasn't an individual right one would have to assume that they carefully worded the whole document, using "The people" where citizens were mentioned and "the state" when the state was mentioned, and "the Federal Government" when the Federal Government was mentioned... This would be including all Amendments, etc. then just did this one all sloppy and said "The People" when they really meant "The Federal Government". You also would have to not read the Federalist Papers which gave an explanation of the rights.

There are 350,000 kids who have been in schools with shootings. They went through some serious trauma. I doubt that the next generation will be so cavalier about guns. They might actually do something about them. Kids are learning how damaging and evil guns are. They have active shooter drills and gun lovers do not care. They watch school shootings on TV knowing there will be more. They just wonder if it will be at their school. You gun lovers are doing real psychological damage to your children.

Lie. DEMOCRATS have done damage to children. You don't care about children. You abort (murder them). You use them as pawns at every opportunity. You encourage them to mutilate themselves and 'discover' transgenerism. You force your immoral sexual deviancy upon them. You've converted the public schools into indoctrination centers instead of education centers. You force them to wear masks for hours at a time (unhealthy!). You force injections of experimental drugs into them. You destroy the economies that their parents need to feed and care for them.

You don't give a DAMN about the children! Stop using them as pawns!

In fact, the 2nd was written at a time when we had no standing army.
So?
We were threatened by other nations.
We still are.
Our army was citizen soldiers.
It still is.
We fought off the Brits a few times and other countries were eying us for our vulnerability.
So?
Note the second starts with " A well-regulated Militia being necessary for to the security of a free state.
Correct. The right of a State to defend itself is inherent. It does this by forming militias.
If that is threatened, then we will need guns. The 2nd half is subordinate.
There is no 'if' clause. The right of the individual (the people) is inherent. They do this by keeping and bearing arms (weapons). ANY KIND OF WEAPON, including ANY TYPE OF GUN.
Without that, we do not need guns.
You do not get to declare 'need'. The word 'need' does not appear in the 2nd amendment.
We have a huge standing army and the people are not protecting the state, but threatening it.
There is no standing army. The people protect themselves, their families, their communities, their State, and the combined States. The right of self defense is inherent, both for States, as well as for the individual.
A well-regulated militia is no longer needed and the 2nd part does not apply.
States may form a militia AT ANY TIME they deem necessary to defend the State. You are again discarding the Constitution and all State constitutions.

I have already shown you several State constitutions that discuss the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms. This is also in the federal Constitution.
Argument of the Stone. Repetition fallacy (chanting). Discard of the Constitution of the United States and all State constitutions.

Not all of the founders agreed with The Federalist Papers, that is why the Constitution did not include everything. The Founders would not have given the right of the individual to own a weapon that could wipe out a city block, yet they worded the Amendment that way. The founders did not give us the right to take privileges away from Disney for speaking out against the governor, but Republicans support i.

He never learned why the battle of Lexington and the battle of Concord occurred.
