Armed Citizen Stops Shooter at Indiana Mall: GOOD GUY WITH A GUN

This is so bogus…

But they’re not air rifles like you claimed.

But those modifications turn them INTO air rifles.

Guns used in biathlons are heavily modified and don't come close to resembling the actual firearms their design is based on.

And you don't use biathlon guns outside of biathlons, do you?

So you could very easily switch to a BB gun while competing in a biathlon since the winner is determined by how well you perform, not what equipment you use.

You're not buying a .22 at Walmart to use in a biathlon. Biathlon rifles aren't interchangeable with other guns.

Also, it fires pellets, not bullets. And their speed can't exceed 380m/second.

So yeah, air rifle.

Yea, so you have absolutely no clue about guns in general and anything about these guns in particular. The speed of the normal hunting round of a 22 long rifle bullet is around 330 mps. And “air” rifle indicates that the means of propulsion of the projectile is air. These use a cartridge where the bullet is propelled by good, old fashioned gunpowder. Oh, that projectile is a good, old fashioned 40 grain coated lead bullet, just like the ones I hunt with.

Why is it bogus?

Because it doesn't allow you to live like Dirty Harry when you're actually Howdy Doody.

Gun Effectiveness

I checked online and found some fascinating numbers. A good website with footnotes and references to authoritative sources is GunFacts.info. There I learned the following:

- Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired, and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.
- Every year, 400,000 life-threatening violent crimes are prevented using firearms.
- 60 percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. Forty percent of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed.
- Felons report that they avoid entering houses where people are at home because they fear being shot.

Oh yea, I am a teacher. ;)

What I know is that you can't swap a regular .22 into a biathlon competition because the biathlon rifles are heavily modified specifically for the competition.

So you're not buying a .22 at Walmart to use in Olympic trials and no one on Earth would ever use a biathlon rifle for hunting because it fires pellets at a fifth of the speed of actual rifles, so you won't even penetrate your prey.

The modifications are for … accuracy. One can do the same with any Walmart rifle. And again, the bolded shows your ignorance. It fires with exactly the same muzzle velocity as any garden variety 22 rifle.

LMAO!

I don't give a #$&@ about propaganda sites with questionable intel.

There is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that guns prevent crimes, but there is plenty of evidence that guns are used in crimes.

Yea, I’m surprised that link could even be found. BTW, that’s how most of us look at your “scientific” sites and the data from them…purely propaganda.

LMAO!

So according to the Masons, you're a teacher.

Here I was expecting you to post an actual degree from an actual university of your actual teaching certification, not something from some club.

Are you exaggerating the definition of "teacher"? Cuz that's what it looks like to me.

That thing doesn't prove you're a schoolteacher, just that you've taught something...but by that standard, I am also a teacher because I teach you idiots things here every fucking day.

So where in the Constitution does it say "firearm"? Nowhere. It just says "arms", which can mean non-firearms.

the constitution does not outline our rights, but LIMITS the power of government, so 'shall not be infringed' means government cannot restrict our arms, whether it be firearms or swords.

You have said repeatedly that you think it's justifiable for cops to shoot drug dealers, for instance.

So if non-violent crimes like dealing drugs are enough to earn a death sentence, then bringing a deadly weapon into a place you aren't allowed to bring it should also be enough to earn a death sentence.

You can't have it both ways.
you have me confused with some other poster.

Yep, like I’m going to put my credentials on here. That’s the best you get, a modified picture off my office wall. :D
