How should we punish China?

Are you referring to something like this?? The U.S. Should Offer Taiwan a Free-Trade Agreement

At the same time, the U.S. risks becoming ever more entangled in the controversy, with congressional passage of the Taiwan Allies International Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) Act. The legislation urges the president to support Taipei with arms transfers and official visits and to consult with Congress on strengthening bilateral economic ties. The bill also directs the administration to back Taiwan’s participation in international organizations and to encourage other countries to enhance their ties with what only 14 countries (plus the Vatican) now recognize as the Republic of China (ROC).

Haha, I am fairly predictable with my sources of articles. I did read that one.

What do you think xi thought when he read it??

Very few people on the right actually read NR anymore, because it's perceived as Never Trump. Not that Buckley, with his Yale sophistication, ever had the ability to connect with a huge audience, but, NR readers abandoned it in 2016. Granted, it publishes the writings of such Trump sycophants as Victor Davis Hanson and Conrad Black. But, I doubt Xi is worried about what NR has to say.

I meant what he thought of [Taiwan Allies International Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) Act.]

Go back to work and kill your grandparents and parents then, free as birds to shit where you will! :)

They're already dead, you insensitive jerk.

Deaths are occurring where people's lung capacity is already compromised, by such things as smoking too much, or extreme age. Nothing about locking up healthy people or letting them go back to work changes any of that. False association fallacy. Paranoia. Fear mongering.

That fantasy is why you'll reduce your population enough to be crying out for Mexican workers soon. Enjoy!

The source of the virus from China is China. They lied about the source and their number of fatalities. They would not share data with our health professionals that might have mitigated their virus from China. They nailed shut the doors of those with the virus from China They did not stop flights out of China and the virus from China spread around the world.

China must be held accountable for the hundreds of thousands of deaths and the economic loss around the world.

Count on the far left loon apologists to defend China and falsely blame it on our great president whose closure of flights from China saved countless lives.

The president is following the advice of the health professionals and the states are opening their economies following the guidelines.

I mean a one-for-one FTA that Trump can live with, like the other deals he has made or revised.

trump cannot live with FTA in general. he needs transactional agreements where governments promise to buy stuff from America, or trump personally. Taiwan cannot deliver that, so they are left out. China can deliver easily, so China is trump's main go to.

because our trade balance of payments are so out of whack
However NAFTA 2 (USMCA) the biggest new trade agreement of them all did not rely on improving balance of payments in terms of purchases

trump believes there will always be cheats in any FTA. They will always setup regulations that favor themselves. The solution is either to regulate the regulations (like the EU), which requires some giving up of sovereignty, or giving up on FTA's in general.

trump therefore moves to a more transactional approach where you demand they buy a certain amount of stuff from either the US in general, or him personally. So China is obliged to buy a certain amount of food from American farmers.

The problem with this approach is it is not capitalism. It requires a communist government to force purchasers to purchase things, and it means that trump, rather than the market, decides who gets to be successful.

so let it up to international corporate attys to determine trade violations? are you nuts??
Do you realize the corruption level possibilities, and WTF should a nation EVER surrender it's sovereignty? :dunno:

There are terms written in, some triggers with abilities to re-vist and re-negotiate.
It ensures review and revision where needed

The LAST FUCKING THING INTERNATIONAL TRADE NEEDS IS CORPORATE ATTYs IN CHARGE

Define 'trade violation'. What do you consider a 'trade violation'?

Our trade balance got 25 percent worse with China due to Trump's brilliant businessman's mind. OIf course he said he was fixing that when he came into office.
