How should we punish China?

While I think it is obviously a bad idea, conceived by ppl whose lives, I guess, have evolved around "punishment" & being punished, whatever we do, punish/not punish our focus should be on what is in our best LONG TERM INTERESTS.. By our I mean the ppl, & I explicitly do not mean wallstreet or trumps ego...
The righties here clearly can't think in those terms. All they can conceive of is hurting China, no matter what that would mean for us.

Bill, you have to remember, THESE PEOPLE are the same people who thought they would PUNISH the Democrats by voting a racist WHITE person like Donald Trump to replace him to get even with us- Someone who would punish the Democrat party.

To Republicans- DONALD TRUMP IS OUR PUNISHMENT FOR SELECTING A BLACK MAN TO BE OUR PRESIDENT.

Trump was selected and intended to be a retaliation and punishment!

How dare us! BLAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Racist Bastards!
He certainly qualifies on all counts.

Punishment is pretty popular in our society, reform not so much..

Hopefully trump does the right thing, put the countries long term interest first..

Trump isn't capable of putting anybody's long term interests first. He even has trouble putting his own long term interests first. He can't think long term.

trump just pulled us out of the free trade agreement with Taiwan, remember? he said he was absolutely opposed to a free trade agreement with anyone.
Trump is absolutely opposed to anything that benefits anyone other than himself.

This isn't quite the "zombie apocalypse", but we are learning something. We need the nurses, but we do not need the lunatics who threaten the nurses with guns. We need the doctors and scientists, but we do not need the losers on disability who threaten the government with guns.

It appears that the people we need during the apocalypse are the same people we needed before the apocalypse. We just need them more.

Threatening people with guns is illegal in all 50 states. How many people have been arrested for doing so?

Perhaps it was the use of the words long term, that sounds so far beyond Nov..

The CCP is thinking decades down the road & all trump can have them focus on is his reelection & what is best for him, not us...:palm:

trump had a rally on March 2nd, and a fundraiser on March 7th. he now denies he did either, but they are both recorded as they happened.

Pelosi "celebrated" the LA Marathon? I can find no evidence of this. I am pretty sure that she was hundreds of miles to the north when the marathon was run.

It was a good rally too. It filled to capacity that stadium (as his rallies always do). Those people came of their own choosing. Trump does not deny it, liar.
It is the Democrats constantly harping that 'Trump should have done something" when they themselves were out campaigning, partaking in gatherings, sporting events, etc. Their message rings pretty hollow.

Now...do you want to take anything else out of context?

Contextomy fallacy. You don't get to speak for Trump. You only get to speak for you. Stop putting words in other people's mouths.

This is called 'brandishing'. It applies to any weapon, not just guns.

It is legal when used in self defense. Most of the time, the threat will leave and no shot is actually fired. It is also legal in your own home. It is legal for the police. It is legal for the military when conducting military actions.
It is not legal when used to intimidate someone that is not a threat to life and property.

People have been arrested for brandishing illegally. In Washington, it is a gross misdemeanor.

Carrying a weapon, either openly or concealed, is not brandishing.

He's maxed out till Nov for sure............

I mean a one-for-one FTA that Trump can live with, like the other deals he has made or revised.

Are you referring to something like this?? The U.S. Should Offer Taiwan a Free-Trade Agreement

At the same time, the U.S. risks becoming ever more entangled in the controversy, with congressional passage of the Taiwan Allies International Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) Act. The legislation urges the president to support Taipei with arms transfers and official visits and to consult with Congress on strengthening bilateral economic ties. The bill also directs the administration to back Taiwan’s participation in international organizations and to encourage other countries to enhance their ties with what only 14 countries (plus the Vatican) now recognize as the Republic of China (ROC).

Agreed.

Regardless of Trump's personal agenda, and a little bit from those seeking reelection, the fact Congress is letting Trump run with this is consent by silence.
