Flynn pleaded down to what he admitted to doing. Lying to the FBI. He was guilty of a lot more like not registering as a foreign agent. Very simply; they make up a reason to conduct an investigation by falsifying documents to spy on an opposition campaign, lying to the target while knowing that they can force the target into confessions by threatening to bankrupt them trying to fight a legal battle with the unlimited resources of the Federal Government.
