How should we punish China?

I'm not sure that was completely legal for Trump to take military housing money and rebuild a couple miles of wall with it.

Mexico paying for the wall is just a long list of broken Trump campaign promises.

Well there were several dems that said they didn't think so either, but nothing seems to have come of it.........

I agree, & you think the market would as well, but thus far, not so much.. They have continued to roll w/ trump, & will prob do so, well until the money runs out..

:dunno:

The equity markets have been little better than playing Vegas for a long time, they are irrelevant.

-Rachet up tariffs (MORE TAXES ON AMERICANS DURING A RECESSION & PANDEMIC)to pay for the stimulus.
-Offer tax breaks to any company which divests itself from China.
-Negotiate a FTA with Taiwan.
So they leave Guangdong & move to Hanoi, does that count??

. It was line item as military construction.
The money had to be spend-POTUS can't pocket veto any spending but can shift within a budget

I don't think we should over-react and try to lash out at China. Instead we need to think like they do -long term.

Obviously we need to do what we did with military appropriations under Trump -key products/industries
have to have a secure US supply chain.

But if we start to try to cripple China "just because" it's going to damage the global economy

Yep........ Hopefully they just take it & not retaliate like cutting off meds to the usa for a month or any # of other things we are reliant on the communist for..

trump & now the USA to a lesser extent is a laughing stock in China after trumps fumbling, misteps, denying and lying.........

"They're laughing @ us folks"........... What he really means is they are laughing @ him, they feel sorry for us & wonder wtf happened here...

Trump is the only American to stand up to China - doubt they are laughing
Biden would be apologizing to China by now

lol, now that the gop don't=everybody don't.........

Kinda reminds me of my x.. She would always say we don't like this or that & then one time my oldest daughter corrected her "no mom, you don't like it, we like it, speak for yourself, not us"............

One thing for sure, when a dem gets there & does it THEY WILL GIVE A SHIT & BITCH TO HIGH HEAVEN ABOUT IT!!!!!!
Hopefully you are not trying to say Dems give a damn about deficit spending?
Nobody cares because spending is wildly out of control of Congress

...and not a single fucking peep out of the RWNJs, Trump supporters or any Republicans.
so you don't get the idea of PPP and stimulus to stop bankruptcies and keeping people solvent.
I was a deficit hawk long ago when it mattered. aside from a few Republicans that is a rare bird now days

I'm complaining for exactly the same reason as Republicans bitched at Obama's stimulus package. You and they are the flip-floppers.

It appears you're only a deficit hawk when it's a Democrat President. When it's a Republican, it's "Free Money!" The far Left and the far Right resemble each other more every year.

you confuse me with being a Republican. I am not.
Further I broke rank with the deficit hawks and supported the Stimulus as a necessary evil.

The same way you should be looking at this Spend-O-Rama

Yep, we need to act in a way that is in our best interest, not just what we think is against theirs/hurt them..

Bringing back vital industry is a must..

You're pro-Trump and Trump isn't a "deficit hawk". Going back to GW Bush, our government has been milking the public trust ....in more ways than one. Although it actually began after 1991, this entire century our nation seems to have lost its way. Most of our major problems have been self-induced. Fiscal irresponsibility has become all too common.

If you reread what I wrote you will see it implied.. When a dem gets in there they will complain~they will complain about the debt.

They both do it, obviously..

& they both do it "for good", & so their team players play along...

When their team does it=good, when other team does it=bad..

So they leave Guangdong & move to Hanoi, does that count??
Yes, if they move to South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, etc, that is a win for us.

We could give better breaks to the companies that move back here, of course.

People who want to support the enemy should expect to pay more. We did quite well in the 90s when all the cheap stuff was still being made in Taiwan.

Send China a trillion dollar bill for the virus from China that China failed to contain.

If they don’t pay, cancel all their debt.

Ya esta.

It's a start - wanna bet DEMOCRATS will oppose it?

THEY DON'T LOOK PLEASED

President Trump has nominated three people to the board that oversees federal employees pension funds – who if confirmed will give the president the majority votes needed to eliminate Communist Chinese investments.

The nominees – John M. Barger, of California; Christopher Bancroft Burnham, of Connecticut, and Frank Dunlevy, of California – if confirmed by the Senate to the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board would replace board members whose term has expired.

The five-person board oversees the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement savings fund that is similar to a 401(k) for federal employees and military members.

The Trump appointees would reverse the board's 2017 decision to allow the TSP's $50 billion international fund to track an index that include some China-based stocks of companies accused of human rights abuses, violating sanctions and aiding the Red Chinese military, according to Thomson Reuters.

Barger, Burnham and Dunlevy will serve either a two- or four-year term.
