First-hand account of what life under socialism is like (Venezuela vs. Europe)

We need to remember that there are various kinds of state:

1. Socialist ones. Nil - the few attempts were destroyed by murderous capitalist armies after World War 1.

2. Capitalist States claiming to be socialists, not run by working people, products of a game played between American capitalism and the local bosses. At best the state acts as a big firm on the world market. What educated people call 'state capitalism'.

3. Normal Capitalist States. Run for profit, but for historical reasons offering certain benefits to those they exploit.

4. Theoretically capitalist States. Supposed to be run purely for profit under competition, but work mainly in favour of monopolies, sometimes buying off powerful interests.

For mugs and scoundrels situated in the last of these to lecture the world on 'socialism' is laughable in the extreme!

#1 is false and the other three can be ignored as comments worthy of James972.

You need civilizing, Earl, and a good course of logic and critical thinking so that you actually start thinking.

Socialism is control by those who do the work, in Marx's opinion, and mine. Americans tend to get it mixed up with actions by the capitalist state, but history is all about class conflict, not state forms. Assertion isn't argument, you know.
 
I barely recognize our country now.

A Socialist running for the presidency, antiSemites in Congress. Democrats cheering for terrorists.

Unbelievable.

Honorably discharged...twice, Jimmy...two each DD-214’s no break in service.

We had no MOS, that’s ARMY. I had an AFSC. AF, eight (8) years, rank-O-3.

Now , Jimmy, you can take a hike.

IOW, you were a dime a dozen AF captain instead of a combat leader. We knew your types. :) You did your active service and then filled it out in the reserve. Thank you for your service.

There’s plenty of objective evidence of the failures of Socialism.

But...it just hasn’t been done right. We’ll get it right...we’ll get it right...

Nope, are you referring to your homestead in the Appalachians? No wonder you think living in Europe is great. I lived in Europe for 10 years and it is ok expensive and not nearly as nice as the US but ok.
