There is a tiny amount of fraud going on in any govt. program. But what you claim is 97% bullshit. BTW, I have lived as a poor person in poor neighborhoods and saw how ppl band together to help each other out, and I have lived in middle-class neighborhoods and seen the same, and ditto with affluent areas. If you really want to get incensed over fraud and your tax dollars, you would be well advised to look at doctors, medical facilities (esp. nursing homes), and Medicare fraud which costs us literally billions. BILLIONS. I'm a retired nurse, I've seen (and reported) Medicare fraud and abuse.
"Each year, roughly 10 cents of every dollar budgeted for the giant health insurance program is stolen or misdirected before it helps any enrollee. Looked at another way, about $1,000 is lost per Medicare member through theft or waste each year. That is according to the federal government’s reckoning. But it could be far worse. Malcolm Sparrow, a Harvard University professor and leading expert on health care fraud, says the true amount lost to fraud, abuse or improper payments could be 20 percent, or even as high as 30 percent." "Fox News has pulled a Tuesday morning story in which they claimed that food stamp fraud is rampant and replaced it with a retraction.
"We reported that back in 2016 $70 million were wasted on food stamp fraud," Fox News contributor Abby Huntsman said. "That was actually incorrect. The latest information from 2009 to 2011 shows the fraud at 1.3 percent, which is approximately $853 million for each of those three years. Nationally food stamp trafficking is on the decline. So sorry about that mistake.""
