Individual mandate shot down

could a company in Canada step up and create a BC/BS from scratch to compete with the government system?......

We have Blue Cross. As a matter of fact I have that for my prescriptions and dental. My wife gets that through her employer. However, there is also a government plan for those who don't get medical through their employer. If one does not have an employer plan they have to join the government plan. Everyone has to have a plan. Sound like ObamaCare? This way the private companies like BC have to adjust their rates accordingly or people will join the government plan as employers are not obliged to offer medical plans.

you mean proof that universal health care destroys the private system beyond recovery?.......agreed.....

You are such an idiot, we have the NHS and private healthcare in the UK. I was a member of AXA PPP paid in part by my employer. You extreme right wingers are forever bringing out bogeymen to scare the children!!

if so, neither of you should be claiming you have single payer health care....

Not only do we have single payer healthcare we also have the principle of free at the point of use. If you are admitted to a NHS hospital nobody is going to ask you if you have the means to pay and if not patch you up and shuffle off to another hospital! If you wish to have extra cover then there are many private healthcare schemes.

There is a very obvious way to save vast amounts of money on prescription drugs, Cuba has a very efficient and innovative pharma industry. If you would stop being so fucking blinkered and stupid you could get many drugs made there at far cheaper prices than you pay now. The same applies to India, Vietnam and Thailand.

how is it single payer if you have the NHS and private insurance?....

In my case private insurance pays for dental and things like a private hospital room and any home "appliances" such as wheel chairs, crutches, etc. Or one can get the public option which pays for drugs and things. If an employer has medical then one does not have to pay into the public option. In any case all hospital and doctor costs are paid in full and no contribution is necessary.

That is not how it works in the UK. Every British citizen is entitled to NHS treatment which is free at the point of delivery. If you want private healthcare then you or your employer pays extra. The treatment is no different as many of the doctors work in the NHS as well but you tend to get more bowing and scraping and you can jump the queue for treatment and surgery. I hated to add that only applies to non critical surgery anything else is subject to the same rules whether private or public.

"Under the mandate, if an individual does not maintain health insurance, the only consequence is that he must make an additional payment to the IRS when he pays his taxes. See §5000A(b). That, according to the Government, means the mandate can be regarded as establishing a condition—not owning health insurance—that triggers a tax—the required payment to the IRS. " - Justice Roberts majority opinion!

Ohhh, Dix are you goint to admit you were wrong, or as Candy and Damocles would call it... LYING ?
