You have it exactly right.In NYC there really aren't any food deserts so any government grocery store will be in competition with private ones.
To run at least at a break-even cost
To be safe for passengers in many cases
To be time efficient for riders
To not be readily accessible 24/7
That's for starters.
The Left loves gun confiscation and control. The Left is against stand your ground laws and even self-defense. They expect you to call the police and let law enforcement take care of whatever the problem is.

Heavy to excessive taxation of "The Rich" to pay for everything.

Taking public control of all utilities
Price controls (including rent control, minimum wage laws, energy price controls, etc. always have the same result: shortages.
