Young woman gang-raped in India dies

Irrelevant. It's wrong regardless of what the Indian government says. Rights are right by nature of birth as human being alone.

ok, what about the rights of a victim who is attacked by someone that is sentenced to life in prison and escapes and kills again or kills someone in prison knowing that they can not be sentenced to any further punishment

Rape is a heinous crime and the punishment should be among the most severe. But, they don't need cruel or unusual punishment. They need a system that does not punish women for being raped because she "was in the wrong part of town" ... "should not have been outside" ... "was showing too much skin." The first right of a victim should not to be tried for the crime against them.

The way they treat women sounds very much like those here who recently argued that a woman gives provocation by wearing a miniskirt.

What? If you escape you can certainly be punished again.

what if his sentence was life without parole and there is no death penalty?

and what can be done, sentence him to life without parole again for killing after raping again

or what if he kills a fellow prisoner or a guard - sentence him to life without parole again?

update on rape victim's assault and death and indian police's attitude about rape

sounds like the reaction to rape in the us not that long ago

NEW DELHI (AP) — Indian police charged six men with murder on Saturday, hours after a woman who was gang-raped and beaten on a bus in New Delhi nearly two weeks ago died in a Singapore hospital.
New Delhi police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said the six face the death penalty if convicted, in a case that has triggered protests across India for greater protection for women from sexual violence, and raised questions about lax attitudes by police toward sexual crimes.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said he was aware of the emotions the attack has stirred, adding it was up to all Indians to ensure that the young woman's death will not have been in vain.
The victim "passed away peacefully" early Saturday at Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore with her family and officials of the Indian Embassy by her side, Dr. Kevin Loh, the chief executive of the hospital, said in a statement.
After 10 days at a hospital in New Delhi, the Indian capital, the woman was brought Thursday to Mount Elizabeth, which specializes in multi-organ transplants. Loh said the woman had been in extremely critical condition since Thursday, and by late Friday her condition had taken a turn for the worse, with her vital signs deteriorating.
"Despite all efforts by a team of eight specialists in Mount Elizabeth hospital to keep her stable, her condition continued to deteriorate over these two days," Loh said. "She had suffered from severe organ failure following serious injuries to her body and brain. She was courageous in fighting for her life for so long against the odds, but the trauma to her body was too severe for her to overcome."
The woman and a male friend, who have not been identified, were on a bus in New Delhi after watching a film on the evening of Dec. 16 when they were attacked by six men who raped her. The men beat the couple and inserted an iron rod into the woman's body, resulting in severe organ damage. Both were then stripped and thrown off the bus, according to police.

while i support ending the death penalty because it is to lenient, however, their are some cases where the world would be a safer place where a person is removed rather than incarcerated...preferably after being subjected to cruel and unusual treatment

oh well

so you support torture?

Unless they are accusing Bill Clinton of rape. Then all bets are off.

See Juanita Broderick
See Monica Lewinsky
See Paula Jones

More 20 year old wounds of a knee jerk reactionary. It appears, that for you, the principles don't matter only the principals.

When was there ever an accusation that Monica Lewinsky was raped?

This guy gets it. For other guys here who say that I think all men are rapists just because I think YOU don't get it and say you are supporting rape culture, which enables rape, read this guy's posts, compare them to your own on the subject and see if you can figure it out.

Surely you get the point. You and your phony war on women unless of course it is women attacked or murdered by democrats then it is "who? what? where?".

Spare me your feigned concern for rape victims.

Unless the offender is Bill Clinton, then you all line up and say "I would love to give him a blow job". Spare me your phony indignation. You don't care about women. You care about "LIBERAL" women. If they don't support your views or they could take down one of your liberal men, then they are just collateral damage.

The fact that you support men like Bill Clinton and Teddy Kennedy when he was alive leaves you no credibility on these issues. Having a vagina doesn't make you the final arbiter on these principles

Spare me your feigned concern over my concerns. Yeah, I get the point. If your politically inspired witch hunts fail then that some how proves no one is concerned about the issues.

There were no charges of rape ever filed. Jones sued over an alleged sexual assault. Broaddrick filed a sworn affidavit in Jones' case that she had NOT been assaulted. I don't recall anyone claiming that they deserved it.

I never implied that a defendant does not have the right to deny the charge or there is no need for proof of the event.

Now that I've had some time to cool down, I realize that I was speaking from emotion when I expressed support for the death penalty; I do not, in fact, support it at all. That said, if India does end up sentencing the rapists to death, I won't shed a tear. The world would be better off without those sick fucks.

That is an interesting way of saying you oppose the death penalty. LOL

Good, let your logic and reason overcome the primative prolish emotions.
