Woman with Type 2 diabetes sees premiums plummet from $500 to $1 under Obamacare

A retired woman in Pittsburgh, who suffers from Type 2 diabetes, is celebrating after she said her monthly health insurance premiums went from over $500 to just over $1 because of President Barack Obama’s health care reform law.

Since the October 1 roll-out of the Affordable Care Act, many Republicans and much of the media have been focused on the fact that a small percentage of Americans have been not been able to keep low-quality insurance plans that failed to meet federal standards.

But 57-year-old Gail Roach told WTAE that she found a great deal by completing her application by phone instead of using the broken Healthcare.gov website.

Roach said that because of her pre-existing condition, her retirement health care had cost her $509 a month. After spending some time talking to a specialist, she was able to find a plan for just $70 a month.

“I couldn’t believe it, I just couldn’t believe it,” Roach recalled. “It was within my budget.”

However, the savings didn’t stop there. After tax credits and something called the Cost Sharing Benefit, Roach’s monthly premiums plummeted to just $1.11.

“I’m telling people that they need to look into this, they need to be patient about it,” she advised. “If you go on the website and you can’t get through the website, call the number that’s on the website and just be very patient because it’s very much worth it.”

They will just call her a liar or freeloader.

When I announced that my assistant's medical insurance went down significantly they called me a liar.

My father in law accused me of lying until I showed him the letter. Then he said that AETNA was a bad company and that's why.

There are ALWAYS going to be some pig-headed ignoramuses who simply refuse to believe the evidence right in front of them.

Especially if the facts run counter to the angry little narrative they've got running inside their pointy heads.

You know who they are...there are several here at JPP who will only believe your story IF you post the actual documentation.

This is a GREAT story! Now tell us about all the young, healthy rich people signing up to have their wealth redistributed so she can be insured for a buck?

Actually this fits right in with the narrative that's been told all along. The young and healthy will be subsidizing people like this woman. It's why you can't keep your plan if you like it because you are forced to join a plan that costs more. Who do you think is paying for this woman to have insurance for $1?

How much(or how little) do you pay your assistant that they qualify for ACA? Jarod's a dang 1%er!

Yeah, we're all familiar with how they move the goalposts to fit the changing narrative.

Everybody.

apparently he's not going to save as much on insurance as he thought.....he forgot to get his assistant pediatric dental and vision care so his plan won't meet ACA requirements......

They don't listen to Left Wing media. It would break the "cult" movement.

I clearly heard on Left Wing media that this healthcare would be more expensive in some area's and much cheaper in others. The Right are celebrating the more expensive, the Left are celebrating the cost cuts. Pretty basic.

I couldn't find any reference to this story on FOX. Couldn't find any references either on NYT, WaPo, AP, etc.

So the point of title was?
