We just had a 300,000 person protest at our capitol. The message was we support Israel.

I agree, the media does try to shape the narrative. One has to sort thru several sources to decipher the truth. Do you have freedom of the press or just one news source?

In theory, people can compare different news sources to determine the truth of events. But according to my observation, the effect in reality is very poor. For example, people believe that there is oppression against Muslims in China, but people cannot explain why the Middle East countries have signed so many cooperation agreements with us. Even the Afghan Taliban are demanding to join the the “Belt and Road”.
The reason is very simple. If people can read some Chinese media and official information released by China, you can easily find that the so-called persecution of Muslims does not exist, let alone "genocide".
But no, you won't read the official information released by China. Because you hate it. From the perspective of communication studies, there are numerous theories that can explain why you made such a decision.
People just say 'comparing different sources of information', but they don't really do it that way.
(I'm not talking about everyone, but many people, perhaps over 80% of foreigners, are like this)

For example, Russia is at war with Ukraine. Russia still pays Ukraine to transport gas to Europe through Ukraine's pipelines. It is crazy.

U.S. foreign policy with Muslim countries varies. Some are more friendly to U.S. than others. We buy oil from Saudi Arabia, but we don't buy oil from Iran.

Yes, many people everywhere are uninformed or misinformed, and do not do their "due diligence". And we have problems here with the gov't censoring our speech on the internet, saying we can not ask questions, lying to us, and telling us what to think.

The basic logic of Chinese politics is that if the government cannot take the right approach to governing the country, the country will collapse. You must do something good to your people!
If you failed to do that, no matter what method you adopt, restrict speech, detain, or use force to suppress. Your government is bound to collapse.
We are not fools, we absolutely do not want our country to collapse. （Only the foolish Soviet would do that.）So, yes, there is indeed some control over public opinion, but doing so is not to display power recklessly, but to prevent a small group of foolish people from dragging the entire country into disaster, simply because their voices are loud enough.

The so called experts that run our country often choose the wrong approach, but our country has survived. We the people ate often divided 50/50 on what is the right approach.

Recently, our gov't has told us that ... if a man says he is a woman ... then we must think he is a woman. People can lose their jobs as punishment for not obeying. I disagree with our gov't.

In China ,we don't like the Liberals，you know ,those LGBTQS.
In terms of ideology, we are closer to American conservatives, or the right wing.The difference is that we do not have religion. We adhere to traditional values. We can understand the idea that Americans demand a return of manufacturing to the United States and focus on the United States itself. Many of Trump's remarks are very reasonable in the eyes of Chinese people. Unfortunately, he adopted an anti China strategy for the election. He didn't need to do this.

China has a bigger Navy than us, and hypersonic missiles, which we do not officially have... however their "bigger" Navy includes coastal boats that we normally count as Coast Guard vessels, as well as frigates and other lightly armored vessels and fewer destroyers, aircraft carriers, and submarines... In short, we are still far more powerful than they are on the seas.

If Biden projected any strength whatsoever we'd have a bit less problems with Russia and in the Middle East, these folks don't wait for the "strong" Presidents to start bombing Israel to "test them" and Russia waited only until they believed they had pipelines that no longer relied on Ukraine to send fuel to Europe to attack the Ukraine. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to understand that they aren't doing it now because they are afraid of Biden.

They wait for the weak presidents to act out because they understand that the weak presidents will spend more time telling Israel not to "attack a hospital" as if they normally would do something like that rather than telling Israel to do what is necessary to beat Hamas and hopefully get some leadership in there that would agree to a two state solution. They wait for the leaders who draw lines in the sand (anyone remember Obama's "Red Line" debacle?) and do nothing when they are crossed.

I hope that Biden's handlers can convince Xi that he won't get away with invading Taiwan, even though the whispering idiot will be looking at his crotch notes while he speaks. Let's hope that they can convince Xi that even though he can't function someone who can is there and they will do something... otherwise we are hosed.

Biden is just a military/industrial complex tool. His career shows that he never met a war he didn't vote in favor of.

As it stands, the world is looking at a situation in China that is the result of historical imperialism, colonialism mixed with in-house conflict. And as always, the poor souls just trying to do their job and get through the day get the shaft.

Your English is very good. There is much to admire about the Chinese people, but many of us do not agree with your form of gov't.

Personally, I like Chinese Taoism very much, and some ancient Chinese medicine including acupuncture. Though I disagree with the use of animal parts like rhinoceros horns as cures (are you aware of Viagra or Cialis medicines), ... and the inhumane treatment of many wild animals such as harvesting bile from bears and "shark finning" for soup.

I think Trump is very pragmatic and wise. China is outsmarting us in international trade, and ignoring patent and copyright laws. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with China was $367.4 billion in 2022. The U.S. is losing the economic Trade War with China very badly.

I have not read the "China Mirage". Have you read George Orwell's "Nineteen eighty four" (1984) or "Animal Farm"? They are short, fictional books about politics and dystopian societies. I highly recommend them. They have both been made into movies, though Animal Farm is an animated cartoon style.
