You Know the Drug War Has Gone Too Far When . . .

agreed. again. damn you.

yeah, roberts hasn't seen a school policy against students rights that he's ever disliked. I still remember how disgusted I was with him over the 'bong hits 4 jesus' banner case.

That case was the last time I ever uttered the words "The only good thing about Bush was his judicial appointments!"

Bee Ess. It is notable that while you all are in power nothing changes. And it isn't the R party that made those inane "zero tolerance" rules.

Really nothing changes, Obama has already said he will leave states alone that pass medical MJ. thats Huge

It's nothing. Ibuprofen is already legal, the zero tolerance rules put into place by educators who fund your party do not change. Seriously, look a bit in the mirror before you start pointing the fingers. Both parties play the "Drug War" game, but to address the possession of a legal drug this way is more than overkill.

It's less than nothing.

...
Blacks constitute 13 percent of all drug users, about proportionate with population size, but are 35 percent of those arrested for drug possession, 55 percent of persons convicted, and 74 percent of people sent to prison....
I would argue that they are sentenced more becasue more grow up without fathers:

Fifty-three percent of the black inmates grew up in single-parent homes, compared to 33 percent of white inmates...

That's the real problem and you should be addressing that instead of complaining about what happens in the criminal justice system.

What's sad is that it actually is a huge step when it really shouldn't be. I liken the situation to something like this:

You are trapped in a room being beaten by a man with a stick. The first man (a Republican) follows you everywhere you go, beating you senselessly and mercilessly. Regardless of which part of the room you run to.

The second man (a Democrat) enters, and politely states that while he will absolutely continue to beat you, he will allow you to remain unbeaten in one 2x2 sq ft area of the room, but beat you everywhere else.

It seems like a huge step forward and in many ways it is, but in reality you're still trapped in a room being beaten with sticks.

southern evny?
It's hard to believe someone with your education is as closed minded as you are.

Envy? Please explain.

Why would you accuse me of being closed minded, because I'm conservative? Its been my experience that it is liberals who are closed minded, not to mention down-right stupid.

No, let's make it more realistic. Three people are hired to beat you, the "republican" enters the room and joins in, then the "republican" is replaced by somebody that says he won't beat you anymore, but three people are still there beating you incessantly. *whew* it's mo' betta...

It's huge to those in the community.
Obviously I care 1,000 more about the herb injustice than the ibuprofin. Sorry

We should be addressing both. Prohibition never has worked, except to give the government the power to imprison at will.
I happen to agree that pot should be legalized, but it will never happen because the government won't be able to tax it. Since they can confiscate homes and cares of drug dealers, as it is now they make their revenue that way.

Wow I honestly did not see that coming. I figured if there was one person on this board opposed to decriminalization or legalization it would be you.

You are absolutely right about the difficulty of changing the status quo, though. The public by and large looks to law enforcement agencies for guidance on decriminalization issues, and these agencies have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. Every year they seize hundreds of millions of dollars worth of property nationwide, which by law can be used for their own department in most cases.

why did you put the last line in white in your post?

I removed the white so it could be seen.

Why did you remove the white? You must be racist.

For BAC, from an email:

Three third graders from Tennessee, an Irish kid, an Italian kid and a Black kid are on the playground at recess. The Irish kid suggests that they play a new game. 'Let's see who has the largest weenie.' He says, 'Okay.' They all agree.

The Irish kid pulls down his zipper and whips it out.

'That's nothing,' says the Italian kid. He whips his out and proudly shows that his is at least an inch longer.

Not to be out done, the Black kid whips his out. It is by far not only the biggest, but the fattest.

That night, eating dinner at home, the Black kid's mother asks him what he did at school today.

'Oh, we worked on a science project , had a math test and read out
loud from a new book and then during recess, my friends and I played a new game called 'Let's see who has the largest weenie.'

'What kind of game is that, honey?' asks the mother.

'Well, me, Anthony and Patrick each pulled out our weenies and I had the biggest! The other kids say it's because I'm Black. Is that true?

'No, Leroy. It's because you're eighteen and still in the third grade.'

It's less than nothing.

Especially a legal drug that has zero abuse potential.

This poor kid was quite literally victimized by the overzealousness of school officials who listened to an unsubstantiated rumor (BTW what happened to the other kid who made the false accusation? Was s/he appropriately punished?). I thought that kids were supposed to feel safe at school; instead she was exposed as utterly vulnerable to the whim of authorities she presumably respected, or at least expected to protect her in some way. What will be the longterm effects upon her?

In a system where it's considered totally inappropriate for teachers to mark an assigned paper or exam with a red pencil so that kids who score poorly won't "feel bad", this travesty against an innocent child was considered appropriate? I'm sick.

For BAC, from an email:

Leroy's dick was probably bigger than yours when he was eight.

What's your point?

I'm betting the email came from your mom .. an expert on dick size.

You should ask that stank bitch you call mother about Leroy's dick.
