Because China was building huge emergency hospitals in Wuhan to combat the virus. It had to be bad. If Trump had run around freaking out it would have panicked the COVID lemmings. Instead he downplayed it and ban travel from China to slow the spread.

Do you think it was a good idea to bring 40,000 people into the country who were exposed to the virus in China, and then tell them they don't have to quarantine and can just go about their day?
