What I faulted Trump for doing was deliberately lying about the problem. Was Fauci deliberately lying? The quotes you presented were from February 2020. The disease was still new and, yes, Fauci appears to be trying to avoid a panic. Did Fauci say masks don't work? Did Fauci say don't take the vaccine? Did Fauci say the disease would be gone by Spring? Was Fauci the President of the United States?

Not to all. The fact you don't agree with that says one of three things about you;

1. You really don't understand due to lack of intellectual ability.
2. You really don't understand for irrational reasons.
3. You do understand but are deliberately lying for political reasons.

And that changed what about the virus? There is still no definitive proof where it came from / doesn't change on how it was handled

Yes, I believe that Fauci was deliberately lying. The NIH (National Institute of Health) funded the research in the lab, he was covering his a$$. He also tried to pretend that gain of function research was not gain of function research because the NIH is forbidden to fund such research. Yet they did.

I'm late to this thread and I have no dog in this fight, I really don't care where it came from. But I do remember those who mocked people who said it was started in a lab and went as far as to say it was racist to even say that.

Here's my issue, the truth is whatever it is and knowing the origins is important. But I don't have faith that either politicians or the media would tell us the truth and not that anyone cares but here's why.

The media has always had a liberal bias but at the same time I felt they would generally do the right thing, search for truth etc. That's changed. Now the media is more ideological and this idea of 'finding truth' takes a back seat to the importance of the narrative (see climate change, COVID etc.) So I'm shocked this is even out there.
