No, I'm all for limited government. That is why I opposed Bush, why I continue to oppose Republicans, and why I would oppose Gingrich. It is also why I am no longer a dues-paying member of the party. They're phoneys.

In practice, it does seem as though a Democrat in office ultimately results in smaller government. Government grew at its most rapid pace under Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II. Government grew at a slower pace under Carter and Clinton. Furthermore, Republicans have historically produced larger deficits.

Based on history, I can only assume that it will work itself out, whether it be through inflation, increased revenue as a result of economy recovery, or both.

I didn't even say that I would vote for Obama - only that I would consider it if Gingrich wins the nod. He simply isn't Presidential material.

It's an eye opener, isn't it? Dissillusioning too. All these main street economic beliefs I had as a Republican I learned don't mean jack shit to the gods of Wall Street and other plutocrats who control the Republican party. What burns my ass is they get away with it cause they have an army of witless dupes called "social conservatives".
 
This is exactly what the Dems wanted to help Obama get re-elected. Playing politics with OUR money. Boehner invited the President to negotiate a one-year deal and the President REFUSED. That should tell you all plainly and simply what is going on.

The President leaves town for Hawaii and tells congress to work out a deal without him. I don't call that leadership. Do you?

This is crap. In the last hour, Mitch McConnel and President Obama have issued the same statement, urging the House to come back, vote for the extension, and then come back in January and with the house and senate together come up with a good agreement that provides for a year long payroll tax reduction. Hell Obama even met the Senate half way and agreed to sign the bill with the Keystone pipeline language in it. That is far more than Boner and his gang have done. This affects 160 million people AND EMPLOYERS. Read the WSJ article, it is a road map on how the Republicans can take this issue back, but the clock is ticking.

hey, maybe they can appoint a super committee to figure out how to solve the problem six months from now if we simply agree to give them everything they want now......oh wait, that's already been used......

Dude.....Obama has "historically" produced a larger deficit than every Republican that has held office since time began ......and he still has a year to go on his first term......
