Nuclear weapons may indeed be used. But is it right that only Israel has them?

Which countries are most likely to use nukes? .. The US and Israel. No question about it.

North Korea has nukes .. never used them.

Pakistan has nukes .. never used them.

The ONLY country to ever use them is the United States of America .. and we did it twice .. we were testing. Bush and Cheney talked about using "tactical nukes."

Israel doesn't think it has to conform to any international standard of behavior and of course they would use them.

I'd like to get rid of all nuclear weapons .. but until that happens there needs to be deterents to using them. Iranians are not crazy. They won't use a nuke unless they are forced to. They already know the retaliation would destroy them .. and they know that we are crazy enough to do it.

Leaving nukes in the hands of Israel while claiming no one else can have them is far more dangerous that Iran acquiring one.

And this is where somebody weighs in with the "muslims want the world to end" argument. Its the nation equivalent of saying the other person is just too dangerous to own a gun. The US is playing cop without any of the responsibility or culpability of an actual cop. When the police step outside the law, courts and the people shut them down, when the US ignores laws, well they just ignore the shouting and threaten violence.

His quotes can be countered with quotes from Israelis against the Palestinian people and other Arab nations, the hate runs just as deep, and the wish for their destruction just as prevelant.

He continues to try to conflate Iran's revulsion of Israel's Zionist regime with wanting to nuke the region and all its people, and this meme is used by hawks to justify the 'bomb,bomb,bomb Iran' mindset. The neocons have framed the debate very effectively in this way - USF parrots the meme, Dixie accuses all critics of Israel as anti-Semitic, etc.

My view is the fewer weapons the world possesses, the better off for humankind. I think it is an attitude more prevelant in women than men, but that is just my opinion.

For countries like Iran, the reason to possess nukes would be to protect themselves from preemptive attacks by countries who do possess them, like the United States.

Finally, because I want to address Dicksy's accusation of antisemitism, anyone who has been on this site for the last few years will recall the numerous and sometimes heated discussions between Asshat and myself wherE I called him out on his anti-jewish rants.
