Women Don't Want More Than Men

they are being paid. women are paid exactly the same for the same amount of hours for the same job as men.

Yet this story appeared less than a day ago. Do you think researchers are making it up?

"It’s not news that women earn less than men. But a soon-to-be-released report illustrates a particularly disappointing trend: women earn less than men even in popular woman-dominated jobs.

The Institute for Women’s Policy Research crunched government data and found that in each of the 20 most common occupations for women in 2013, women’s median weekly earnings for full-time work were less than weekly earnings for men. Within those top 20 jobs, that relationship holds true for occupations with the largest shares of women.

Take elementary- and middle-school teachers, for example. Women in these full-time spots made median weekly earnings of $937 in 2013, compared with $1,025 for men. Those figures translate to women making 91.4 cents for each dollar earned by men – a gap of 8.6 cents. That gap widened to as much as 16.4 cents for social workers."

Bogus stats. I wonder why they use median instead of mean? I also wonder if they correct for women leaving the workforce or working part time which they do at a higher rate than men. Something most if these bogus studies never account for.

Also did you know Obama pays men more than women in his White House? Ironic huh?

At least we know that any woman looking for the stuff in that first frame wouldn't want to spend a second with most of the ignorant misogynistic rape and wife beating apologists on this site, including the main rape apologist here, you, tommy!

I bet you even think Pistorius is innocent and he didn't know his girlfriend wasn't in bed with him when he shot her through that bathroom door, don't you tommy.

An d if he did know, she deserved it, didn't she? Fess up, tommy. You and the Daily Mail have the proof that he thought his girlfriend was an intruder hiding in the bathroom behind a locked door, because that is what all intruders do. Right tommy?

Various studies have been made on this for decades and the result is always the same. On average women get paid less than men for doing the same work. It used to be physical labor that was the sticking point, men got paid more for doing the dirtier jobs and the heavy lifting. Now that the workforce has changed to being more service-oriented or desk sitting, the meme is that women take maternity leaves v. men taking paternity leaves, or the newest reason is STEM careers. I wondered how many total workplace jobs are reliant on STEM education so I looked for the most common jobs in the US and found this chart. The only one requiring some science background is registered nurse.

Here's a chart of the 10 least-common jobs in the US, more STEM-based jobs fall into the group than in the most-common jobs.

If that's true about Obama paying men more for equal work, a pox on him.

In exchange for getting up at the crack of dawn every day, hauling himself off to work, and handing over his paycheck, all most guys ask for is for their partners to lay down and STFU for about 20 minutes or so.

:awesome:

I bet you're on welfare aren't you victim boy; big government made you do it too, didn't they?

No it isn't. Custody issues are probably the most perfect example of what feminists mean when they state that patriarchy hurts men too.

All of the the myths you listed about fathers are the result of sexism. Sexism states that a woman's destiny is biological - she is meant to be a mother. Women are naturally nurturing and mothering and traditional gender roles teach us that the most important function they serve is breeding and child-rearing. This is as untrue as what is taught about men and their role as fathers.

Exactly, which I'm not afraid to say that such biases are merely symptomatic to the continuous onslaught of patriarchy and although I'm not a father myself nor do not have the audacity to comment on parenting experiences, I just read as well as hear too many horror stories of men having to go all out in the court room to prove 1)They're caught up on child support 2) Having to demonstrate how effective of a parent they are.

I don't know how it works in the US but the family courts over here are highly secretive so they can get away with all kinds of shit and do on a regular basis. Thre are moves afoot to open them up to more public scrutiny and not before bloody time.

I still call BS on these studies for one salient reason. If it were true that employers could hire women to do the SAME EXACT thing as men and get the SAME PRODUCTION for $.23/hour then businesses would only hire women and save BOATLOADS.
