On April 2, 2011, Crystal Mangum was arrested for allegedly stabbing and seriously injuring her boyfriend. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, a class C felony in North Carolina. Her boyfriend later died in the hospital. Mangum is currently being held in jail under a $300,000 secured bond, which was set prior to her boyfriend's death. On December 7, 2011 she was deemed mentally competent to stand trial for his murder.
