Because they knew they couldn't get the votes necessary to make it happen. The Democrats weren't going to get onboard with it because they didn't care if Biden was a criminal sleaze on the take. So, the Republicans like adults, didn't push for an actual impeachment knowing it would fail. They aren't insane.

I guess they will have to finally pay their own way or go without programs they have now.
