Hello Darth Omar,
Well, you get points for recognizing that a democrat in the WH wouldn’t have changed anything significantly.
Epidemics are apolitical. In fact, it’s dangerous to play politics with them and it’s pretty apparent which side is doing that.
Politically, the blame game begins and ends with CHINA and to a lesser extent WHO. Trump had his ‘epidemic cake’ baked for him by those two parties. Even The Obama would have fared no better. Obama doesn’t know how to make test kits and he likely would have hesitated on shutting down immigration from China due to politically correct concerns.
And besides, we are winning. We are on the down hill side. If Trump gets blamed for China’s epidemic, then Trump gets points for leading the country to it’s downhill side. You can’t have it both ways at once.
It’s also true that the 50,000 dead was supposed to way, way higher than that even by now.
If one side insists on playing election year politics with an epidemic one can hardly blame Trump for boasting about reducing the 2 million dead figure by orders of magnitude.
It’s the smart political play.
President Obama would have most certainly done far better.
If Obama were president when this hit, fewer Americans would be dead right now.
He would never have denied it, would never have politicized it by calling it a hoax of the opposing party, and would most certainly have taken appropriate preventative action without wasting 6 weeks of precious time. He would have made sure production of all the supplies needed would be ramped up as soon as it was apparent they would be needed.
Obama would never have advocated for unapproved untested fringe treatments that he stood to profit from, would not have gotten anybody killed by suggesting people try out untested drugs.
Obama would never have claimed it was going to miraculously go away in a few weeks, and he would not have advocated for people to protest against scientifically proven social distancing, and would not have prevented a ship full of Americans from docking, thus allowing the further spread within the ship.
Obama would not have turned WH briefings into campaign rallies, and he would have invited members of both parties to be present at the signing of bipartisan legislation.
Obama would have advocated for Congress to act right away to make a planned shut down instead of complaining that nobody saw this coming.
Obama would have worn a mask and set a proper example.
And most importantly, President Obama would have made testing a priority from the beginning!
