An uncle of mine that was in WW2 drew down a decent retirement. Maybe it depends on how greedy you are. From what you claim, you allegedly were higher ranked than him.
He never complained and provided a decent living for his bride. He did good work while he was there, too.
I have no friends that washed out the military.
All of my friends were mostly on the Ranger side of things.
$550/mo for hazard pay last I knew.
A couple of my friends are still in there.
So how much money do you think you should get a month vs. what you actually do, Dutchy? Should you get hazard pay every month of your retirement?
I'm trying to think of any of my friends that weren't Ranger-involved and cannot.
There was one Navy guy, but he was not a friend, pretty much an asshole I knew that was always trying to be better than a motherfucker.

Dutch is full of shit. I had a friend that got shot at for a living and his hazard pay was $550/mo. He wasn't happy about that, but he was/is a helluva fucking Ranger.
He picked up the M249 and killed a lot of Allah Ackbars on his 1st incursion.
Ofc Boatswainmates like Dutchy don't make that much pay, nor do they face that many hazards.

My uncle was 1 rank below that, a Lieutenant Commander and made plenty of retirement money.
He also was 2nd in charge of an entire flotilla in 1944.
