Will We Have Another Schumer Shut Down?

The last Schumer shut down blew up in the Democrats faces. Will Schumer do it again? Did the Dems learn their lesson last time. Will they put Americans out of work again? Should American have to show an ID to vote? 82% of Americans think we should show ID to vote. I had to show an ID to get a library card should I have to show one to vote? What possible reason would politicians be against voter ID. I bet even the homeless Dutch Auntie has an ID to get his welfare with.

Lot to unload there

Good possibly of a shutdown, especially given the country is fed up with Trump’s Ice tactics, and if such, it would start in the House. Wouldn’t bother Trump, it would give him more to deflect off his Epstein and cost of living problems

Democrats weren’t hurt by the last shutdown, did really gain much, not did the GOP, only one holding the bag was Trump with his inability to do anything even though he owned both Houses of Congress

And we’ve been voter ID umpteen times, bottom line, it isn’t necessary, voter ID fraud is minuscule, and isn’t worth it given it could disenfranchise existing voters

Voter ID is needed to ensure that voter fraud is really minuscule. Without voter ID voter fraud could be happening now but it is undetectable because of the lack of voter identification. People have ID and the minuscule few that don't can easily get them. The right to vote is at least as important as the right to by a sixpack of beer.

I can easily produced three recognized studies summarizing actual voter fraud is a myth and all you have are antidotal narratives, you want to disprove that which has yet to be proven

Easy to get a real ID to fly, the campaign to do such has been out there over a year, and hundreds of people still show up without it

It is obviously more important and you want to possibly disenfranchise existing voters over nothing

Blacks say getting a photo ID isn't a problem. 82% of American approve of voter ID.

Voter fraud is relatively rare, but it does sometimes happen in the US and it can change elections. A while back it allowed the loser to win the election for mayor of Miami FL. It was detected, the election thrown out and the real winner put in office. That's one example.

You can also use a military ID, passport, among alternatives. That someone doesn't know this and is going to fly is on them, not the policy.

Few, if any, voters would "disenfranchise(d)." On the other hand, with ballot harvesting, mail-in elections, and no voter ID requirements, the potential for mass fraud in an election goes up exponentially.

How do you know what is Blacks view on obtaining a photo ID? And 82% of Americans don’t see the reality of voter ID fraud, just as the majority of Americans approved of Trump’s ICE crackdown when it started, and now after seeing the reality, the same majority opposed it

That is not true, the Miami election you are referring to was over absentee ballots, not Voter ID, which means it was incompetence by the local Board of Elections.

Half of America doesn’t has a passport, and less than 2% have a military ID, and in the proposed Safe Act, even a State drivers license isn’t acceptable. And simple events as changing addresses, ie moving, or women getting married thereby changing their name can present additional hurdles

And for what, something that is documented as have minimal effect on the outcome of elections

Truth be told it is just another way, as is gerrymandering and Federal takeover, to control the vote

No, it is not. You showed your ID and citizenship when you registered to vote. Does your identification change a lot? Do you keep turning into someone else?
Getting a new ID is problematic for poor people, old people, and very rural people. The Repubs see that group as leaning left. That is why they want to put them through hoops to vote. It is another form of voter suppression.

And how do you know if the person that showed up to vote is the same person that registered to vote?

It was election fraud. The argument is election fraud is so rare that it doesn't affect the outcome of elections. This is proof it can.

So? We're not arguing a need for a real ID, just a valid photo ID. Are you really going to argue that anyone in the US can function without some sort of valid photo ID? You need it to open a bank account. Hell, in Phoenix and the surrounding cities, you need one to walk into city hall.
And for what, something that is documented as have minimal effect on the outcome of elections

It has a serious effect as I showed with the Miami example. Or, are you claiming that election would still be valid if all voters in it had to produce a valid photo ID? Mail in ballots, as even you point out, are highly problematic.
Truth be told it is just another way, as is gerrymandering and Federal takeover, to control the vote
No, it's not. It's common sense and something like 99% of other countries demand from citizens in their elections.

Voter ID doesn’t address absentee ballots and Voter ID fraud is minimal, fact, fraud does occur, but not enough to merit an election overhaul, lightning kill’s people, but life continues when lightning is around

And I clearly showed you how it presented problems, name change, address change, etc.

Mail in ballots can be problematic, but not if administered properly, as Georgia showed in 2020, it can be done successfully

It's a MAGA Mike Johnson shutdown, bitch.

Also, Cowboys still suck.

ID has already been verfied to put voters on rolls in the first place. In mail-in voting centers signatures are verified and rejected if not a match.

Requiring everyone show up IN PERSON and WITH ID is just a way Republicans are trying to make it harder to vote. Why? Republicans know their ideas suck and more people voting means they lose.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

So Republicans are fooling no one with their "secure voting" bullshit.
