There are reports that the New York State Police are on high alert, for a terrorist attack intended to shift the outcome of the election.

Like him or hate him, Donald Trump seems to appeal more to xenophobes.
What would the consequence be, of a major terrorist attack 24 to 48 hours before election day?

Might it alter which candidate wins the election?

Could it happen?

I think the only November surprise will be who wins. Half of us will be WTF while the other half cheers (well technically not 50/50 but you get the point. If Trump wins the will be a forum/social media shitstorm of screaming, whining, crying, shouts of racism/sexism, and general butt-hurt. If Clinton wins there will be a lot of "well, shit, that sucks, let's carry on".

For me, either way, I will remember I am an American and a veteran and when I was discharged my oath was not.

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted):

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. All the other xenophobes probably believe that Trump will simply buy an island where they can all live together under his benevolent rule, if he loses the election.

Yes. Absolutely. Doubtful.

A major terrorist attack [even a small scale attack] would tip the scales toward Trump. There's the perception that liberals aren't serious about the Islamist threat. And it's well earned.

A major one risks postponing the election if it happened Monday or Tuesday.

Thankfully, that's a long shot.
