Will Smith slap: Workplace violence isn’t tolerated in normal industries

I'm not a lawyer and I was not able to find this info on the Internet...

...BUT I think many states will prosecute an assault committed in public whether the "victim" presses charges or not.

Not sure how I feel about that.

This is one of the best things I've read about this. Why is this board not the place for this discussion? Well, because it is the platform of choice for white animals who like to start threads entitled "black woman chimps out" "spread eagle harris" and "judge ketanji brown jackson is inhumanly ugly and no real man wants to fuck her". And they are applauded, or ignored. This board IS violence against women, and especially, violence against black women.

Whether it was a "work" or a "shoot," Chris Rock certainly deserved that slap.
At the very least.

Sometimes, words are an adequate provocation for violence.
I honestly believe that.

Violence in the workplace? Was there ever a time when it didn't exist?

Yes. Chris Rock was working an awards show where Will Smith not only acted a presenter but received an award.

Most, if not all, were there to advance their careers. It was a professional association event, not a block party. Members were expected to act according to the Academy code of conduct. Smith fucked up.

Still not sure it was a traditional work place, were they paid? I honestly do not know much about the Oscars.
 
This will pass in a couple of days but while it dominates the news so many different takes on this. Have seen a couple of black women celebrate it saying Smith was standing up for black women who our white supremist society beats down. Saw a white friend’s feminist wife write that Smith displayed faux masculinity and should have remained seated as he denied Jada Smith her agency.

I can’t say who is right or wrong but people are into it

If Smith had punched or shot Rock in a bar as patrons, that wouldn't be a work place for them. OTOH, what if the bar employed them for a special event?

I dont like how much attention its getting when kids are getting shot on streets every day.

It'll certainly quiet down, but I'm not so sure this will pass as quickly as you claim.

Yes, people are posting/tweeting/commenting from all quarters on this but the bottom line remains the same: Will Smith committed a violent crime on live television for all to see.

Had it been two white men or two white women, would there have been ramifications? Consequences? I think so. So why does the color of one's skin and not the content of their character matter here?

Giving Will Smith a pass on this is, IMO, blatant institutionalized racism.

FWIW, I believe Smith will pay a price. Not as big of a price as Mel Gibon paid, but still a price both in Hollyweird and the law. I still see community service and large charitable donations to both the city and the Academy in Smith's future.

For Will's sake, I also hope he gets divorced. Jada Pinkett Smith is poison.

Meh. There's over 130 suicides on average every day in America and the Democrats only give a shit about the half that use a gun. Obviously the Republicans don't give a shit about any of them.

Maybe if all those suicides were on live TV they'd get more attention? :laugh:

Yep. Right after your post, that I'm responding to here, is a female who encourages the verbal assaults on black women, in particular accomplished, intelligent, well-educated black women. You should have seen how Michelle Obama was treated. But then, no doubt you did on other forums during the Obama presidency. Got to keep 'em down and make sure they know their place.

Darla, you and I both know that those posts are made by one person and supported by less than a handful of others. Most people consider such racist assholes to be the scum of the Earth. True douchebags who will be the first to be shot in a purge or thrown off a building as not worthy of living any longer.

Most people on JPP try to be good...although many seem confused on what that may be.
