Members of Wisconsin State Employees Union, AFSCME Council 24, have begun circulating letters to businesses in southeast Wisconsin, asking them to support workers’ rights by putting up a sign in their windows.

If businesses fail to comply, the letter says, “Failure to do so will leave us no choice but (to) do a public boycott of your business. And sorry, neutral means 'no' to those who work for the largest employer in the area and are union members."

Jim Parrett, a field representative of Council 24 for Southeast Wisconsin, confirmed the contents of the letter, which carries his signature. But he added that the union was also circulating letters to businesses thanking them for supporting workers’ rights.

What a swell tactic.... 'support us... or ELSE!'

I'd be f'ing pissed if I were a business owner. I'm trying to run a business not a political activism shop.

They are just following Gov. Walker's lead, he was the first to cry, do what I say or I will give pink slips, waaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

How's that working for him, by the way?

LMAO.... whatever.... that is quite a pathetic attempt to divert.

This is in NO way like what Walker did. Walker kept it between him and the unions. The unions just told small businesses that they HAD to choose or face a potential boycott. This should go over well. I hope the unions do more of this. The blowback will amuse me.

Well, I guess we see things a little differently, don't we. His being removed from office will amuse you, I thought you were his friend?

Really? Your business would not be politically active in any way?

I would seperate business from personal (in a political sense). If I did some risk/reward research and thought there was some advantage for my business then maybe I would do it. But otherwise no I would not be overtly political. Politics gets people fired up and I don't see a reason to alienate potential customers in that manner. As Michael Jordan once famously said when asked essentially why he didn't speak out as a big Democrat, "Republicans buy shoes too".

I was just shocked at a Fairbanks hotel owner whose commercials infused his political beliefs, they ran for awhile, and then suddenly, they were gone! I wonder if got some complaints about them?
