Why was 2nd amendment written?

I know precisely why: We didn't have a standing army, and the colonists wanted to ensure a militia could be promptly called up to repel an attack. More than that, however, the south wanted a secure right to arms so that they could arm slave patrols.

In other words, the 2nd amendment is an utterly fucking meaningless anachronism today, with a history in cold-blooded racism.

you're as much a dumb fucking moron as domer. nothing of what you said is even close to historically accurate

Thats a good question and all we can do is base our answers on our opnions and look at what was going on in history.

many freedom fighter then picked up their own firearms made their own bullets etc and went to fight for their freedom against England for a number of reasons.
Our founders wanted to make sure the American people had the right to defend themselves and rise up and fight against oppression and for their freedom if needed.

Our nation was built on the gun , from gathering food to fighting for our freedoms.
While harvesting food with a gun is not as common as it was at one time it is still a practice we Americans have, also personal defense is a bigger issue today I think and shooting sports are very common, but defending our freedoms from those who would try to take them is as a important issue today as it was them.

I still have to claim I am correct in explaining it.

Top four forum stupid posts ever. All by you, idiot.

There is no gun problem.

Vehicles cannot be necessary in a modern society.

Smarterthanyou wrote the Constitution.

Gun regulations are not in the interest of public safety.

Are you aware of the original wording of the 2nd Amendment when Madison wrote it?

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, a well armed and regulated militia being the best security of a free country but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person."

The 2nd had ZERO to do with personal self-defense. Nor hunting. Nor sport shooting. At that time, “bearing arms” and “military service” (militia) were synonymous.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

militia was a group of citizens who used their own weapons they had at home. these guns were used for self defense and hunting infringed is just that infringed to bear which is to carry.
they wanted the people to be able to protect them self's from a oppressive government be it from overseas and domestic and the only way tom do that was for the people to be able to own and carry fire arms . which was very common in those days especially in the wild country .

They no doubt used guns for personal self defense and hunting. But that wasn’t the intent of the 2nd.

“Bear arms” meant one thing. Military use.

thats not true I disagree with you the right to bear arms shall not be infringed how would the people have guns at home to respond with it clearly say shall not be infringed on . any one knows the military has the right to have guns world wide , do you think the government would infringe on that ?
No of course not sir. that would strip its self of power.

Overthrow an Oppressive Government.

Thankfully, we had a Election. And even though it may come to a Shoot-Out at the White House, we're all on the same side now.

No it was written to keep control of the government in the hands of the people so they could restore s tyrannical government (like we have now) to proper order.

JokeBox: "... to keep control of the government in the hands of the people so they could restore s tyrannical government "
Jack: Uh, yeah. OK.
