apparently the Navy detected the implosion sounds just minutes after contact was first lost. They've been dead and crushed for days now, and rescuers have known the likely fate since sunday when the Navy told them what they heard.

Honestly, as a former US Navy submariner (well, twice I was TDY on a sub), I would prefer implosion to slowly suffocating or hypothermia.

I feel sorry for them. They don't want to be in the Ukraine killing innocent people, and watching there very own fellow soldiers die daily- and for no real reason. They are being forced to do that!

Yep, at least it was effectively instant. I doubt their brains survived long enough to even register what happened before their bodies got turned to paste
