WHY OBAMA WILL WIN in '12

Thanks, Romney is going to have a hard time over coming his pro abortion, pro healthcare stances, plus being a Bishop of the LDS. The hard Christian right won't follow and Christie's, I won't run words will be used against him, he will turn ot to be a proven liar. Paul Ryan will get pummeled!

Lots of people have said they won't run and then changed their mind. That's not going to hurt him.

Also, sorry, but he is too heavy...it shouldn't make a difference but the USA is shallow.

I remember when people were saying that about a black man. I think you are wrong on that one. Looks aren't going to do it. And if Christie makes himself appear to be pushed into the race rather than going against his word it really wouldn't be that much of a negative for him. Remember that Obama swore he wasn't going to run in 2008 and that he'd do a full term as Senator...

Do you think he is electable, I mean, come on, there are a lot of people who will not vote for a Mormon, it is ridiculous, but nonetheless, it is reality.

In a secular society no one should vote for anyone who wears their religion on their sleeve. If people do not want a secular society let them move to Iran!

He doesn't, it's simply common knowledge here.

As a side note, him being Mormon is the most electable thing about him in my mind. Mormons are badass.

Nope, I don't remember what people were saying about a black man, nor do I remember Obama saying he wouldn't run, but Christie made it more than clear in a very dramatic way. Christie's advisors reiterated he is not running and Ryan's aides have stated the same...

Oh come, come, come. Fine people, the mormons. Magic underwear, vast stock piles of food for when the world ends, no tea, no coffee, no alcohol, no cigs, no, no, no no nononononoNO.
We get them here. Young, incredibly clean and shiny, great melon slice smiles wanting to be 'nice' to everyone. I spoke to a couple not long ago.
'Haa,' they said, 'it shure is a fahn day.' (I couldn't argue about that, most days here are fine) and then they asked, 'What do you do?' I replied that lately I have been spending far too much time telling mormons to piss off back to Utah because they had no right to preach against existing beliefs and cultures in a foreign country. Their melon slice smiles stretched across disappointed faces and for a moment I could tell they felt comforted by their magic underpants.
Bloody fools.

Badasses all. Were I not a pagan, I would be a Mormon.

Mitt does not wear his religion on his sleeve. I'd note that her post is again much like the people who believed that "some people won't vote for a black man, it's unfortunate, but it's the truth.."

We had hardly heard of the man until recently and one of the first things your media mentioned was his religion! So it is definitely on his sleeve even though it might be hidden from your view.
I think many Americans fail to realise what impression they are giving to the wider world with their street corner loonies and their halleluyah millionaires.
In simple terms we see, from your media, a nation of right wing, jesus freak, racists and it is only when we actually engage with real, live Americans that we see alternative values. Even then they are, so often, well hidden.
Obviously similar inaccuracies abound from other countries and, as with America, flow both ways.

No, that's simply not true. The media mentions it, but he does not. There is a huge difference between, say, Perry who absolutely trades on his religion for political points and a man whose religion is only mentioned by others who are trying to dismiss him because it is a minority religion.

Seriously, saying the media mentions it so that means he does is a bit off...

He did mention it, compared himself to JFK and his Catholicism. He doesn't cram it down your throats like some of the other GOP candidates, but he has addressed the subject.

I think there is a major cultural difference here. We tend to treat personal belief as a private affair whereas Americans seem to want to publicise everything they do. Is it the predominance of Southern Baptists or the possibility that, in a land with precious little actual tradition and culture, religion has become a surrogate? I doubt that if you asked my friends whether or not I adhered to a theist religion or any kind of philosophy they would be able to answer. Naturally they might make a guess but I doubt that many could say without fear of contradiction.
I'm afraid you must, to a large extent, blame the promoters of your country. It is they that bend our ears with hallelujahs and ay-mens.

In the General, absolutely. Getting the Rep nomination... that is questionable... unfortunately for the reason you mention. It is not like he is going to try and convert Christians to Mormonism. F'in retarded to think that might be what holds him back, but like you said, it is reality.

So... in your opinion, no one should be able to preach against existing beliefs and cultures??? So whatever practices and beliefs currently stand... tough shit... thats what you get??? Sorry, not sure if I got your position correct.... elaboration would be appreciated. Thanks

People always call Mormonism a cult religion, but in a way, isn't that what organized religion inherently is? It's just that some have been around longer & have more people...
