Why it is okay to be successfull and rich...but

Politicians use the word "elite" to try and make themselves look like a "regular Joe". Its a popular ploy to get the masses to vote for them.

The truth is that very few of our politicians on a national level are "regular Joes".



Success does not necessarily mean greedy. It reminds me of the Joseph Sobran quote, "Politicians never accuse you of 'greed' for wanting other people's money --- only for wanting to keep your own money."

When people want to take more from another class of people, they are not being greedy. But those who build a substantial personal worth are greedy for wanting to keep it.



I consider myself quite successful. I do not judge my success by my bank account, although I make a comfortable living. I am a success because I am happy with who I am, what I do, and where I am in life.

I've known a lot of people, rich and poor, who could not say the same.


I am also a good husband and I have been a huge success as a father and as a Dad. That matters the most to me.

I think it is more being an "elitist" rather than "elite" that pisses people off.

The difference being... someone can be elite in that they are intelligent, rich, successful etc... and still be humble. These people tend to earn others respect, not animosity.

On the other hand, you have the "elitist"... those that THINK they are better than someone else and show it in their actions. Whether or not they actually ARE better is not relevant. It is their actions and condecension that tend to piss people off.
 
Elitism exists on many levels, I know plenty of working joe rednecks that still have an elitist attitude. Talking down about others not as fortunate as they are.

Btw I am quitting my $75/hr job in 2 weeks. Won't be online much, and am plenty busy now handing off my work to others.
Many did not think I did much till they got some of my job :D
 
I thought Bush was more elitist than Kerry. People said Kerry was elitist because of things like mannerisms & windsurfing. Bush had genuine contempt for the American people.

So what if I not only think I am better than someone else, but in reality I am better. Does that make me an elitist?

It is impossible to BE better than other people and to know that you are better than other people and NOT be condecending. You do understand that right? I mean I don't have to explain it to you or anything do I?

The fact of the matter is that intelligence is dependent upon the topic being discussed.

Through all my reading the truly great are always humble and never condescending. They also feel like they know very little and that all mean are equal, no man is better than another for we all have different talents we bring to this life! :cool:

They are at the bottom of the food chain, until you need one and then they become PRICELESS! I will never say another bad thing about lawyers after my son drove our car into the neighbors house and they sued me! I love lawyers!
