Why is Speaker Johnson voting for it?

it is a pretty fair thing to point out.

Voting to support the protection of pedophile rings should be called.

When you vote only changes, because you see you will lose the vote and be left alone voting to protect the pedophile ring, society should not then give you pass as if you were always going to be on the side of right, and instead society should call you out. Ask why now you are voting this way? What changed?
He didn't schedule a vote, which is not the same thing as voting against something. Often Speakers will use this for votes they know they will lose. Shoot Pelosi often would not schedule a vote until she knew how the votes would turn out.

I'm not saying that was what was done here. But I am saying that he didn't "vote against" it. He simply scheduled it when the choice became moot.

He BLOCKED the vote from happening very deliberately. When you have the power to do that that is the same as voting against it.

This one's easy. When it became obvious that the vote was going to be pro-release, anyone on the other side would look like they were protecting pedophiles. They fought against the release as long as they could. Trump said last night that he was for release. He was dead set against it from the beginning. Speaker Johnson is a puppet, with Trump's tiny hand up his ass.
The reds figured out that a no vote would hurt them. They are not operating on values and conscience.

Why is Johnson voting for the discharge petition he was against, and which he tried to prevent the vote?

What a hypocrite.

I'm watching his presser right now. He's "supporting" the discharge petition grudgingly. He is dancing so hard not to let this happen but he knows that it's a done deal. So he's going to try to poison the well that this is all a "distraction" while he simultaneously blathers on about how seriously he takes all the charges of Epstein's crimes. It's weird to watch him try to dance both sides.

So he gives you.what you want and you still soil your diaper. Can't you understand that people are just fucking sick and tired your your incessant whining?
I want to know why he intentionally tried to sink this bill before he decided to publicly support it.

He's still running interference. His presser today was a non-stop litany of the dangers of the petition...the unintended consequences of revealing innocent people's information, the dangers of release of unredacted pornographic images, etc. He's trying to play a "role" here. It's obvious. He's helping run interference by the Trump administration.

Once Trump got Bondi to run an investigation into all the "Dems" in the Epstein Files he set in motion something that might keep the files tied up in litigation. So now the GOP has to SOUND like they really want this transparency and the release of the files but they also want to ensure that they are not coming out TOO FORCEFULLY for it.

The more they play games with this information the more it sounds like something truly awful must be in those things. Weird.

Can't YOU understand that you do not speak for the people.

YOU speak for yourself. It is YOU who is sick and tired of whatever.

Frankly, I am sick and tired of YOU being sick and tired.

Why is Johnson voting for the discharge petition he was against, and which he tried to prevent the vote?

What a hypocrite.
Because he knows that trump's set up an investigation to prevent their release. The vote is now only symbolic, and Johnson knows the files won't ever be actually released under trump. Johnson just doesn't want to appear like he's hiding anything.

Everyone knows they're up to something.

Something sleazy, underhanded and dishonest.

As always.
Well, it's pretty simple. Documents can't be released while there's an ongoing investigation. trump opened "an investigation" Friday so Congress and pass all the discharge petitions they want now - we'll never see the documents.

More importantly...

Before the release...

Jarod: Trump is going to get indicted! He did all sorts of perverted stuff! It's a massive coverup!

After the release...

Jarod: They scrubbed all the perverted stuff Trump did out of the files! It's a massive coverup!
trump was using every lever of government to stop the release of the files.

Now he's saying "he's got nothing to hide".

You don't give a shit about flip flopping on major issues. You've been supporting that shit with trump for over a decade.

This is an opinion article, but it does ask some serious questions

Trump's Epstein scramble may be a coverup for an even darker and more extreme secret

First: Is Trump sincere about wishing to release the Epstein files?

Second: He’s trying to hide the fact that he was a confidante of the late Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre, one of the most prominent survivors of Epstein’s sexual abuse, died by suicide in April. The redacted emails released last week by House Democrats included one from Epstein suggesting that Trump had spent time with Giuffre at Epstein’s estate. Giuffre had worked for Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

He railed against the bill, even today.

He only scheduled a vote when forced to.

Again, this article says it all.

Mike Johnson cornered into major pivot as he faces huge Republican revolt

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) reluctantly agreed to back a petition to release files on sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after many Republican lawmakers indicated they would support it — forcing President Donald Trump to reverse his position.

Just hours before the expected vote on the discharge petition, Johnson announced his support during a GOP conference meeting on Tuesday, according to Axios.

Johnson's pivot came just 48 hours after Trump said Republicans should vote to release the files. Trump only changed his mind after it became clear that dozens of GOP lawmakers would ignore his demand to vote down the effort.
