For the exact same reason Nimrata Haley and Piyush Jindal ditched their family's Hindu religion to convert to Christianity, and ditched their given first names to go by the bland Anglo-Saxon names Nikki and Bobby.

Because the GOP is a Christian nationalist party, which tends to not roll out the welcome carpet for anyone associated with immigrants or exotic foreign motifs.

And the same reason Ted Cruz kept secret then had to denounce his Canadian citizenship (he was dual, at the time, so it was just symbolic bigotry).

Oz was born in America. He grew up in America. But, he decided to serve in the Turkish Navy. Several of his houses in America are lived in by Turkish people for free. He has a close relationship with the Turkish Government.

I am not particularly against the Turkish Government, but I do not see why one of their agents should be in the Senate.

Cruz is still a British National(but not citizen), and a Cuban Citizen. He was born in Canada before Canada ended its status as a British colony. Cruz can legally live in England, and run for Parliament. He cannot legally work in England, nor vote for government.

I sure wish he was legally barred from being in government here. His mission is not to legislate, but to troll.

Canadians are percieved as socialists by Republicanns, so its understandable why lyin' Ted Cruz would want to sever the relationship.

I just think anything "foreign" is taboo to Republicans these days. They're all about 'Murcan Christian white male supremacy.
