Yes, but I felt it was lip service, because then what did he do about it? I feel he could have been more effective, but I hate Bush the President, and so I am not very fair when it comes to him.

Many deserve blame but You guys were in full charge and failed to do ANYTHING to avert the coming storm and pretended it was great policy.

Without question... there is much blame to go around. The fact that Greenspan and the Fed kept rates so low for so long allowed more people to 'afford' loans. there were multiple steps in the downturn, beginning with the Fair Lending Act, moving on to the repeal of Glass Steagall, low interest rates by Greenspan, the idiots in DC doing nothing when the looming problem presented itself in 2005, continued to do nothing when the problem started shouting 'this is GOING TO HURT' in 2007.... continuing to do nothing when Indy Bank fell in March of 2008.... finally waking up to the problem when Lehman fell, Merrill Lynch had to be bailed out by BAC... then the government panicked and essentially stole WaMu from its owners and handed it to JP Morgan.

Add in the dishonest lenders, greedy borrowers, hacks on Wall Street and the bomb grew to exponential proportions.

The idiots in DC slapped some duct tape on it and pretended that because they slowed the bleeding that somehow everything is now ok.

Partisan fools who wish to blame one party or the other are simply that... fools. Those who are honest about the crisis, understand the roles all the parties played.

So dishonest Desh... tell us... when the Dems were FULLY in charge of Congress in January of 2007... WHAT DID THEY DO?
