Each of those amendments is there to guarantee the right to vote to a larger portion of the population. A country where the majority of the population can vote for their representatives is called a Democracy. A country where there is a Constitution that lays out the way the government is formed is a Republic. The document that makes the US a republic also makes he US a democratic republic.
