Further, I don't have to tell you about the thousands of extremely intelligent graduates who have a 1% chance of landing a job in the field they got their degree in. My friend's son was 1 of 100 applicants for an engineering job at G.E a few years ago. He was part of the 1%, thankfully.

What plan, Medicaid? Those on medicaid get it for free thanks to working people making too much to get it themselves that pay taxes. They have a strong tendency to not appreciate it judging from the high rate of no shows for doctors' appts. What's not to understand? I'm sure you knew that already.
 
When you are trying to save money and also pay down your debts you should simply stop spending and budget your money to not go beyond your means. What you don't do in my opinion is try to figure out ways to keep spending money that doesn't belong to you on things you cant afford while never changing your past ways. We are spending our way into a future catastrophe and with no hope of ever paying back our country's debts. It will in my lifetime destroy our economy if we don't change our ways. The more dependent the country and Americans become on the federal government the more harm it's going to cause the country and Americans in the future when it comes crashing down back to reality. Just as we all need to live within our means the expectation on government should be no different in my opinion.

This is basic common sense but it's far too late to (probably) ever live like that again as a country. 1. Too many are addicted to gubmint entitlements and 2. it would be too painful to get back on track. We'd have to actually spend less than we take in with taxes.

Dream on. Best one can hope for is have the personal responsibility to do this as individuals. A very small percentage of people actually do this and save/plan for retirement. But if you're one of those few you're way ahead of the game.
Take it up the butt and plan on gubmint screwing you, turn the other cheek as about half the population is sucking off your taxes and have the satisfaction of knowing your life and outcomes will be far better than the 50% working the system to their advantage.
 
If republicans were smart (and they prove they aren't daily) they would offer a proposal to tax abortions in order to pay for women's health

Maybe 'waste' was too strong. I do believe that trade schools would be an important inclusion, as our society is going to keep on moving toward a service based economy. You can't offshore plumbing/electrical/construction jobs.

I do believe that affordable healthcare is much more pressing at this point in time, though.

I suppose I don't understand why you keep injecting issues that have nothing to do with the subject? Can you bill Medicaid for dental no shows, the way you would bill a self payer?

The 'plan', is the $.05 fee for Wall St. transactions.
