Why Does The US Right Distrust Representative Government?

How can I get rid of pictures and still access the forums?

Much as I like T&A's pics, its a bit frowned upon at work.

But that's the problem. Medical care isn't offered until someone is in crisis. We have to think prevention and one thing the government plan will do is encourage people to get check-ups.
I agree. This is an underestimated impact that reform will have. Preventative health maintenace programs, such as, chiropractic, podiatry, dietetics, exercise physiology, will be covered. These programs are very popular in this country but are greatly under utilized because they either are not covered or the coverage is shoddy.

But not only prevention, our system over the last 50 years has drifted away from family doctors and generalist being the primary portal to health care to a trauma/crises management system that emphasises the roll of specialist as a primary portal to health care. This has a huge impact on both cost and outcome because, as Poor Richard used to say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Hey if it gets us out of the clutches of foreign oil companies then that's a very good thing. We need to tax the hell out of oil products for national security reasons. Taxing the hell out of oil will drive development of alternative fuels and will make America more secure since we won't be at the mercy of a bunch of unstable third world cleptocracies for our fuel/energy resources. If it also cleans up the environment well that's just gravy but lay off the bull shit. We need to discourage oil consumption for national security reasons.

LMAO.... ok... I agree with part of your rant... We do indeed need to ween ourselves off of oil and support development of alt/clean energy sources. But if you are truly desiring to see it done for national security then you will support...

Begin drilling our own oil and nat gas deposits. We control the environmental standards of the oil and gas we drill. We do not control that which is drilled in other countries.

This keeps the JOBS here in the US. It keeps the MONEY in OUR economy. It allows us to TAX the production without substantial hits at the gas pump (because the extra tax could be offset by the reduction in oil and nat gas prices due to larger supply on the worldwide market). That extra tax could then be used to fund alt/clean energy R&D as well as provide funding for more infrastructure projects.

Yea I've been bitching about that too. You'd think they would be considerate and knock that shit off but they dont' care. What you'll have to do is turn of the signature line in your User CP so that they don't show.

I got into trouble at work cause some nelly bitch I work with walked by and saw one of 3D's photo's and went running to the boss. I really wish they'd be a litte more considerate.

Mott, why shouldn't we be at the mercy of third world kleptocracies?

Are you a filthy american exceptionalist?

Separation from the collective is sinful in the new age theocracy.

given that you have the option to shut off the signature portion... quit whining. I know you are in a pissy mood because a certain little ten team lost this weekend, but stop whining and suck it up.

(side note: IZZO is a god. How the hell did that team make it to the final four? Very impressive)

I don't have a problem with that. Having said that, I've lived next to an oil refinery and I don't fault people living there for wanting stringent environmental controls. That area had one of the highest cancer rates in the nation and it flat out stunk, until environmental regulations were strictly enforced.

I'm really more in favor, short term, of developing LPG drilling and product development. We don't have the oil reserves to meet our energy needs. We do have the LPG reserves as we literally sit on top of underground oceans of the shit.

In all fairness, this isn't part of your workload in the first place. You wouldn't have gotten in trouble if it were.

actually I'm more in a pissy mood about the nelly bitch who you can't fart around and she goes running to HR. She needs to go home and be bare foot and pregnant.

BTW, How bout them Butler Bulldogs??

Neither am I.

I just wonder why such unabridged distrust of public service, and apparently blind devotion to the private sector.

The private sector is soley motivated by profit, if it produces community service, it is either designed to indirectly increase profits or is done as an unintended side effect.

The public sector may have some bad apples, but its sole raison d'etre is to provide service.

Bullshit. People don't stop becoming human because of a job title.

Then why do high level foreign government officials come to the US for delicate and risky procedures?

you fail.
Then how comes we rank about last for industrialized nations in the occurance of heart disease? Cancer? Birth Defects? Infant Mortality? Preventable diseases? Hmmm? How comes?

As I stated, our technology is unquestionably supierior to most of the world. It is access, availability and cost which impact outcomes negatively and why the US, despite its impressive technology, lags behind the rest of the developed world in health care outcomes.

I mean what you dont' get is that the US is great at treating cancer and heart disease but guess what? The rest of the modern world is far better then us at preventing them in the first place and guess which approach is far more affective? Hmm? Guess which approach saves far more lives and cost far less? Hmmm?

because most of our nation has become fat, stupid, and lazy. I happen to think its because they've gotten used to the idea that gov will care for them in all ways.

anyone in this country, at any time they need to, can go see a doctor. If cost is the issue, then pray tell why wasn't cost the FIRST problem to tackle with this reform?

Yep and the US has the highest survival rate for cancer in the world.

Motivations are not determined by some arbitrary construct where you divide private sector acts from public sector acts. People are motivated by a variety of things whether they work in the public or private sector. Financial gain/security is a primary motivation for nearly everyone.

The real difference between private sector versus public sector has nothing to do with motivations and everything to do with means.

For the most part, businesses produce enormous "community services" or benefits to society. Not because of some motivation of the business but because of the motivations of its consumers and vendors. Those who trade with the business do so of their own choice because they seek to benefit from the trade.

Whereas, the government can and does use force against its "consumers", the very people it claims to aid.
