Why does Brittney Griner think she doesnt have to observe other countries laws?

If someone is being held by a regime like Putin's and used like this, I don't give a fuck what their politics are. I'll support that person in whatever way I can.

There, the law is you answer all their questions truthfully or you get an additional charge for not doing so. That isn't corruption, that's how their laws work.
Guilty until proven innocent is common around the world in criminal matters too. So? That's how the Russian system works, and it isn't uncommon either. Don't apply American values to other countries when you are visiting them. Know how the locals expect you to behave.

Will they do a swap? Who knows - there are a lot of considerations there. But any good American is hoping and praying that she gets released and does not have to serve time in Russia.
