Why did the left turn against Elon Musk?

The shift of the left's perception against Elon Musk can be traced through several key events and developments over time.

  • Early Perceptions: Initially, Musk was viewed favorably by many on the left due to his work with Tesla, which was seen as promoting "green" technology and "combating climate change". However, this positive image began to change as more information came to light about his political views.
  • Twitter Acquisition (2022): A significant turning point was Musk's acquisition of Twitter (now known as X). His promise to turn Twitter into a politically neutral platform and his subsequent actions were met with skepticism and criticism from the left. His decisions to reinstate accounts previously banned for so-called "misinformation" or "hate speech", including that of President Donald J. Trump, were particularly triggering.
  • Musk's public statements began to alienate the left further. He openly criticized Democrats, supported Republican candidates, and engaged with far-right personalities on social media. His comments on topics like immigration, transgender issues, and his endorsement of controversial figures like President Trump further distanced him from left-leaning audiences. His alignment with conservative views, especially after his own child's "transition" against his wishes and his subsequent comments on woke ideology, marked a clear shift in the left's perception.
  • Musk's clashes with Democrat policies, including his opposition to lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic and his disputes with regulatory authorities, also contributed. His criticism of the woke mind virus became emblematic of his broader cultural critique, which offended progressives.
  • Posts on X demonstrate how Musk was initially celebrated by the left for his electric cars but increasingly criticized as his actions and statements seemed to align more with conservative viewpoints. The perception that Musk became a target for left-wing criticism due to his wealth, his opinions, and his growing influence over public discourse is unavoidable.

Overall, the left's turn against Elon Musk appears to have escalated around 2022 with his Twitter acquisition, but it was a culmination of various factors including his political endorsements, cultural critiques, and perceived changes in his policy positions.

Oh, okay. Since I walked into the trap:

1. "Initially, Musk was viewed favorably by many on the left due to his work with Tesla..." But not this leftie because I couldn't care less about his or anybody's cars. All I need to know is a car's safety and reliability records, not what it looks like or whether it uses gas or electricity.

2. "His promise to turn Twitter into a politically neutral platform and his subsequent actions were met with skepticism and criticism from the left." Not this leftie. I never used Twitter and don't care what a bunch of randos are posting on it.

3. "Musk's public statements... on topics like... transgender issues, especially after his own child's "transition" against his wishes..." caught my attention because they showed me he's a piss-poor father who can't relate to his offspring like a normal human being.

4. " Musk's clashes with Democrat policies, including his opposition to lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic...His criticism of the woke mind virus... showed me that he was a conspiracy theorist with a platform to spread misinformation and I consider CTs to be dangerous.

5. "The perception that Musk became a target for left-wing criticism due to his wealth, his opinions, and his growing influence over public discourse is unavoidable." A perception that may ring true for some but not all lefties.

As I said before, I turned on Musk when I learned about the way he cheats on women, the way he treats his children (badly) including giving them unpronounceable names that will hold them up to ridicule, his disowning his own children if they didn't live up to his demands, his weird beliefs about spawning as many kids as possible, his offers to pay women for having his children... in other words his horrible personal morals. Just because he's rich doesn't make him a role model.

Opinions ....pfft. Some patently uninformed ones, at that.

He was taken as a Energy Transition Warrior....then he bought Twitter fucking up the Revolution because as Bret points out one is a special number....even just one free mind meeting spot jacks up the brainwashing programs tremendously.

Until he bought it Twitter was CIA controlled, and the staff was mostly the WOKE Revolution faithful.

When was that snooty taint stain ever favored by leftists or anyone besides when MAGA regretfully adopted him?
