The Mural did it!

I think, there were lots of factors. The racism/mysogynist policies of the GOP are more foundational, long term and would have put voters out of reach to him. Of those things that were within his control...

I think the 47% comment really hurt his ability to appeal on the economic issues. He killed in the first debate, but he needed to follow up with more details and failed to do so. Instead, he got off track on Benghazi and destroyed his momentum. The Jeep lie may have played big in Ohio.

Couldn't relate to regular people.

For me, this isn't a big deal. I don't give a damn if I could have a beer with the President. But I understand...I understand why the President has won a second term, and I'll do my best to look at him in a more objective light.

If the GOP can learn one thing from this loss, it's this: rape is rape, end of story.

spigot cities Obama won 16 of 88 counties in Ohio and won the state not truly representing what Ohio wanted. It is that way in many states.

MItt lost because he was the best that the Republicans could put forward.
And he lost to the one the right calls the worst president in history.

NOw I am by no means an Obama fan however that is funny as hell :D

Doesn't matter. He still won the majority in each of those states and the national popular vote. Not a mandate, but a victory nonetheless. The President won fair and square.

why no all the above?

You can pick more than one. :)

You too. I went with the Jeep Lie because Ohio put Obama over the top.

I thought about putting up the rape stuff, but don't think that really affected him. It certainly affected the Senate, though.

Simple.
No one had the balls to tell him he was wrong.

Yes men have their uses, but this was not one of them.

It was a lot of factors but mostly the fact that he had to go so far right to get the nomination he looked bad trying to get back to the center. He also was forced into choosing Ryan over some candidates that would have been better suited. In short he lost due to the uncompromising nature of the far right wing.

Romney was a great candidate, and is a great man. Just wasn't his time. It is especially sad considering his father's political career suffered the same fate. Both were outstanding public servants.

I guess the lesson we can learn is that the dying breed known as North-Eastern Republicans isn't the future of the Republican Party.

I think Mitt lost due to a couple of factors. The outrageous statements made by fellow Republicans, some he continued to support (Akins), to the fact he kept changing to suit the audience. It was the businessman mentality. He was used to addressing small groups which never interacted with each other so he could say anything to suit the occasion. For example, he could address investors telling them of a great opportunity to invest in a company which would be flipped or raped of collateral and the next day tell the employees of that business how he was protecting their jobs by investing in their company. The employees would know nothing about the previous day's meeting so he'd win both sides. A glaring example was that infamous video and the "47% of lackeys".

Other than the most diehard Republican supporters even those who wouldn't normally support Obama couldn't bring themselves to vote for such a slimy guy. He posed as being all things to all people when, in reality, he was nothing to anyone.

I wish, at the very least, that Democrats could see the real Mitt Romney. A self-made man, a man of great moral character, and outstanding public servant. You may disagree with him, but to assassinate the person for political reasons is sickening. Both Mitt and Barack are good people. I wish everyone could have looked at the election with that perspective.

Why did Romney lose the election?

The reasons given in the poll are minor....

The 47% comment was mis-represented in the media and thats what the folks took as the truth
Sandy kept Romney, Libya and the economy out of the news for a week....score for Obama(Chris Matthews had that right)
The Jeep lie wasn't a lie but that spin stuck,...again the media
Racism ?....another mountain made from a mole hill....
The crazy remarks made by some R candidates?....absolutely....reflected badly in the entire party
Romney's religion ?....again a factor....just enough questions raised to concern some people
GM bail out....a big factor in Ohio....Unions members are as fanatic as the crazy Muslim fanatics
The debt ?...People on the left don't give a shit as long as their checks keep coming in....
Unemployment ?.....again the checks are in the mail, theres no concern until they stop
Just plain partisanship ?.....a very real big factor....
98% of blacks for Obama.....racism
Women ?.....taxpayer provided birth control and unrestricted abortion....very big
the 18 to 29 yr. olds......not mature enough or informed enough to make a wise decision, still
living at home under mommys care....

The reasons are numerous, and every one of them affect a portion of the population to
one degree of another.....
The biggest to me.....a biased media....the most powerful influence on the election .... they
don't work for the people, they work for the left.

( Watch for groaning assholes)

I don't think he's a good person. Why does everyone have to make the same judgement of someone's character that you did? What are you an authoritarian? I'll make up my own mind about people.

There's Bravo with more bullshit about women. Until you guys clean up these old lunatics seething with rage that women have sex for their own pleasure and aren't apologizing to anyone over it, you're doomed.
