Why democrats cannot take winning the popular vote as a "consolation prize"

Hillary was no A candidate. Bernie may have done better but he was horrible. Warren seems to be the worst of Bernie and Hillary combined.

The problem was that Hillary was chosen 8 years ago after losing to Obama. There was almost no one willing to challenge her or cultivate any challengers.

Your arguments are always so weak. The victory in the popular vote nationally by a small margin is insignificant in future races but winning the electoral college due to a combination of victories by very small margins is? Says who?

This is why you blew that right to die debate.

you are missing the broader scope of my argument. I am forcing liberals to choose one reality. Either they keep thinking clinton was one of the best candidate of all time (which they did) and that trump was the worst (which they did) and got creamed, or they need to accept that they were wrong on both of those factors.

no......you failed because you didn't cultivate a better alternative......its like not weeding the garden for eight years or planting any seeds and wondering why the fuck you didn't get the prize for the best tomato at the fair.......

I am not the party or a member either. I was at the LP's convention not the Democrats.

Just shut up moron, you never have anything intelligent to contribute.

I don't see them saying she was one of the best candidates of all time. Links?

No, Trump an still be one of the worst. The data shows that and that Hillary was horrible.

More Americans voted for Clinton than for Trump. That denies Trump popular legitimacy. He is a minority occupier, from the flyover states. He's not a legitimate ruler. He's a dictator who ignores the will of the people.

Coincidence?

VA Guv McAuliffe pardons 60,000 felons

Hillary wins VA by around 60,000 votes...guess she's quite popular there.

Yeah, ol' Hillary gets the crème de la crème of the American vote.

many people argued she was one of the most qualified and exceptional and best people to run of all time. I don't know if someone said that explicitly on jpp but many in the media said such a thing. Her flaws were always downplayed extensively

You really overplay that. Like I said before, "most qualified" was often used. But I can't even name one media person - even someone like Rachel Maddow - who didn't acknowledge Clinton's baggage & overall weakness as a candidate. I watch the libbie networks, too - and there was a lot of talk even in the final weeks of the campaign about how she wasn't giving voters reasons to vote for her; just reasons to vote against Trump.

And they did a stat last night on one of the shows that showed there was over twice as much coverage of her email issue than of any other story or issue in the campaign.

The democrats convinced themselves Hillary was their best candidate. She wasn't. The millions who came out to vote for Obama stayed home for Hillary. Trump got the regular republican base out. You could argue that running Hillary actually motivated republicans to come out and vote against her despite hating Trump.

I don't think there is any doubt on the bolded. They were talking about how Comey's letter might have really brought those kinds of Republicans home & gotten them to vote Trump.

I still don't understand what happened w/ the Dem primary. That was such a weak field overall - it felt like it was completely set up to coronate Hillary.

thing1, read wikileaks. it WAS set up as a coronation. The DNC had emails about how to sabotage sanders when they should be a neutral party. i.e. get a plant to ask him questions about his atheistic tendencies. DWS was clintons former campaign aid/manger/something. She was put in charge. Guess who had the job previously before DWS was installed and who stepped down in 2015? Tim Kaine.

Being head of the DNC is a sweet gig. Put the pieces together. Tim Kaine steps down because clinton promises him the VP slot, then she installs DWS so she has her top girl in the top spot, then the DNC undermines bernie every step of the way. She rigged the primary process.

I heard Kaine was an Obama pick

:rofl2: I guess you think every EX-felon registered to vote and they all voted for Hillary.

"When Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe restored voting rights to more than 200,000 state citizens with felony convictions in April, he opened the door — much to the dismay of state Republicans — to a influx of likely Democratic voters in a state whose recent presidential elections have been decided by razor-thin margins.

So far, however, very few of those potential voters have taken the first step toward actually showing up in November. As of June 30, only 8,170 of the newly eligible Virginians have registered to vote, according to the Virginia Department of Elections."

If they thought she was so bad, then why did they let her run?

“Because there was general consensus on both sides of the aisle that she was the most qualified presidential candidate we’ve ever seen, and she lost, it reinforces the notion that maybe it’s not even enough to be twice as good to get half as far,” said Jennifer L. Lawless, a professor of government at American University who studies gender and political ambition.

they are applying this argument to gender rather than democrats as a whole, but the exact point I make in my OP is now being reflected by a professor of government in the new york times. (i.e. everyone talking (and associating) being more qualified = best candidate).

dickless on the internet is so fucking below my level it's not even funny. I seriously run circles around him.
