It is hard to tell if his diatribes are sincere or just trolling, probably both. He seriously needs to get some poontang.

He lived in Mississippi all his life but is now working inside the Beltway, so he is probably reflecting the arrogant hubristic attitudes of the people around him. He was terrified until recently that if he couldn't get a job as a programmer he'd have to go work in the plywood mill.
