Why banning hate speech is counterproductve

There is cause to celebrate and even get excited about an African-American becoming POTUS. I recognize that even though I didn't vote for him. He should be a big deal for overcoming the hurdle of race in America, even though I don't agree with how he did it.

And no my brother, it isn't racism to point out the truth of the reality of racism in America.

But being excited about black achievements isn;t racism.

LOL McNabb is overrated. Rush recently had Tony Dungy on his show, and he happens to be an accomplished black coach...

Wether the player was overrated or not Why The Fuck did he make it out to be a race thing?

He brought race into it.

Again it is such a facile answer to label people racist. You hear leaders say Americans need to have "discussions" on race but real discussions sometimes include difficult or more thought provoking questions. In the issue of race many comments not deemed p.c. get tagged racist. I'm non trying to stick up for Limbaugh per se just more of an overall comment.

I'm glad you're not rtying to stick up for Limbaugh here because his comment was clearly racist.

I'd have no problem with frank discussions on race with you my brother because you have intelligence.

That's all that's required.

I was excited to see Barry Bonds hit 73 homeruns, although I was admittedly identifying with him as a left-handed person, and not through race. I like to see lefties (Ruth, Marris, Bonds--Griffey hit like 54 in 1998, but failed due to a slump after the All-Star break) stay on top in the HR categories.

But being excited about black achievements isn;t racism.

Nope, it isn't.

Noe is being excited about Jewish accomplishments, hispanic accomplishments, the accomplishments of women, or white accomplishments.

Denigrating another group because you aren't one of them is racism.

Wether the player was overrated or not Why The Fuck did he make it out to be a race thing?

He brought race into it.

Because McNabb was a black quarterback that people had high hopes in to do well, because there still just aren't many black QB's out there. He was being highly followed by the sports media because of his being black...

Not to say Rush wasn't dumb for calling them out and making himself an easy target...

It was racism that prevented blacks from becoming quarterbacks in the first place .. as it has been the impediment throughtout all American sports. Supposedly blacks weren't "cerebral" enough to be quarterback.

In fact, sports heroes who played when black participation was limited or denied should all have asterisks by their name because there were not necessarily the best in the game, just the best among those who were allowed to play the game.

Prior to Limbaugh's racist comment, Doug Williams had already won a Super Bowl and a black quarterback was the highest paid player in the NFL and there were at least 10 other black QB's in the game.

There was no reason for Limbaugh to interject his ignorant racist comment .. but the network was already aware this idiot may go off the deep end and wouldn't be able to temper his racist view .. so they put a clause in his contract that allowed them to fire him on the spot if he did it.

This surprised no one.

My problem with McNabb is I picked him in the first round two years in a row (a few years back) on my fantasy football team and he did not perform like a first round pick either year. That I picked him in the first round (twice) is my own fault but I'm still upset at him for his performance (or lack thereof in this case).

But all rush said is what you said. People were excited because he was black. He made no comment regarding why blacks historically weren't quarterbacks. You are completely irrational on this topic.

Don't be a braindead lemming .. not on purpose anyway.

I'm right on point on this topic and I'm all ears waiting to hear your take on the value of hate speech. From my end of this conversation, I know people have died and families destroyed by hate speech and I can't wait for you to tell me how their suffering makes America better.

Your argument is mindless.

Hate speech is good for America.

MINDLESS

As for the fat clown, perhaps you need a refresher/remedial course in comprehension ..

"The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is little hope invested in [Donovan] McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve."

Now go back as re-read what I said and you'll discover to your amazement that I didn't say anything remotely as stupid as as that.

First, he said "the media" was "desirous", not the "people" as you've re-invented it. Perhaps you don't know racist code, but most of America does.

He said McNabb got credit for the teams success that he doesn't deserve. Since when does the starting quarterback NOT deserve credit for a team's success? Matbe you're too into the WWE to pay attention to real sports, but the quarterback always gets the credit and blame for a team's success or lack thereof.

Additionally, here's what McNabb has done since Limbaugh ignorant comment.

-- Passed for 19,151 yards and thrown 155 touchdowns in 77 regular season games.

-- Has a 6-3 record in the NFL playoffs.

-- Reached the NFC title game three times.

-- Gone to one Super Bowl.

How many NFL quarterbacks have done better over the last 5 years?

Is McNabb the perfect quarterback .. no. But he most assuredly has earned the respect and right to discuss his record without the pretense of suggesting the only reason he's there is because he's black.

I know you don't care for real sports, but see if you can find out how many other black quarterbacks there were in the league when the fat drug-addicted clown made his remarks.

Is it relevant that the black quarterback barrier had been brokemn long before Limbaugh made his comment, including by one who won the Super Bowl?

Is this relevant?

Warren Moon
Randall Cunningham
Steve McNair
Rodney Peete
Doug Williams
Charlie Batch
Donavan McNabb
Charlie Brackins
Kordell Stewart
Fritz Pollard
George Taliaferro
Willie Thrower
Andre Ware
Jay Walker
John Walton
James Hardy
Marlin Briscoe
Joe Gilliam
Vince Evans
Michael Vick
Vince Young
Anthony Wright
Seneca Wallace
Troy Smith
JaMarcus Russell
Brad Smith
DJ Shockley
Cleo Lemon
Darrell Hackney
Tavaris Jackson
David Garrard
Quinn Jackson
Jason Campbell
Shane Boyd

Tell me sir .. did they all happen to get their shot at the NFL because the media was desirous of seeing black quarterbacks, or did the wide majority of them have to fight against a system that was against having black quarterbacks in the NFL?

Are African-Americans among the best athletes on the planet or is that just the media's doing?

Simmer down bac.

The concept of banning hate speech is suspect because defining HATE is too subjective.

And rush was right. People were making a fuss about mcnabb because he was a black quarterback, something slighly more rare.

These are the simple facts here.

Naw, those are the perceptions from the dark side.

"Defining hate is too subjective"

Easy for you to say Mr. White Guy.

I thought you were a better person than that brother.

Here's a secret .. NOBODY was making a big deal about McNabb being a black quaterback .. because there were several black quarterbacks in the league by then and a bunch more coming out of college .. AND, the highest paid player in the league was a black quarterback who was not McNabb.

Limbaugh brought it up because he was playing to his racist audience .. which is not reflective of Americans in the main. Most Americans aren't buying that racist shit he sells and he got his ass tossed the fuck out because of THAT very fact. Americans were not outraged that he got his ass thrown out .. they were relieved.

You keep dancing around the obvious .. but it kinda goes with your "hate" comment.

Wrong. You said yourself historically blacks have been rare in the quarterback position, hence, extra interest is generated. It's the exact same thing as everyone being excited about Obama's presidency. Neither perception is racist, both perceptions are true, and oddly enough, agreed to by you.

Save your bile and spew for when you're winning the argument.

Dude, I won this argument a long time ago.

I'm just playing with you while I watch processes run.

McNabb was a long ass fucking way from being comparable to Obama in the NFL. You're reaching for the stupid.

The most talked about black quarterback in the league at the time was Michael Vick, who was also the highest paid, and had the highest selling jersey .. but he wasn't being talked about because he was black, but because of the dimension he brought to the game .. which is what most black quaterbacks bring. They can pass and run.

Additionally, "the media" was not "dersirous" of McNabb's success, and in fact has been tough on him .. not because he's black but because of the market he plays in. They're tough on every quaterback that plays in that market.

Limbaugh brought up race because he was playing to his audience .. which the network warned him not to do.

Your defense of Limbaugh and hate speech is quite telling brother.

You said yourself blacks were kept out of qb spots, hence, the extra interest. Just like obama's race made his achievement more interest-worthy.

Your long winded posts do not buttress your assinine case, but keep trying, gasbag.
